I find the best thing to remove tar is petrol - cheap as well.

Hi Dr Rob
To be honest I haven't done too much about it yet! The wheels have been taken off the RRS for winter - having been replaced by a set of Winter Tyres/Wheels. I will have a proper go at cleaning them up before I put them back on after winter. However I did try some slightly more aggressive (acidic) wheel cleaner on a small area and with a bit of elbow grease the 'rash' did seem to be at least partly removed so I am optimistic that a more thorough clean will be successful.
As far as I can tell the 'rash' is NOT caused by Tar deposits - tar remover/petrol did nothing so I assume it is caused by brake dust particles etc. Hope this helps![/quote]

Cheers. Used used a 50% Bilberry wheel cleaner then some tar remover and elbow grease. Did quite a good job. Going to seal them Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com
