L320 leaning to one side.

Hi Guys.

I've bought another RRS recently, TDV8, and have an issue with the car leaning to the nearside by about 15-20mm.

I've replaced the following: 4 x new suspension legs complete with air bags, 4 x new height sensors, 2 x air cross link valves (front and rear) and the main air compressor.

It is still leaning to the same degree that it was when first purchased. The only thing thats not been replaced is the suspension ecu.

Any ideas would be most welcome as its starting to really annoy me now and am running out of ideas.

Thanks

G

Check in the 4x4 Info screen and check that there are no red bars above any of the wheels (should be white) - that indicates a sensor fault with a ride height sensor at that wheel. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim.

Thanks for your reply regarding the red bars on the 4x4 info screen. They all check out ok and I've just had 4 new height sensors fitted.

Have you had the suspension height recalibrated, as this should sort it out. Life's too short to drive boring cars !

Hi Orange RRS

Yes, its been calibrated by my local indie specialist. They've carried all the work out to date. Had a 4 wheel alignment as well. Still leaning over to the left. Puzzled!

It's the calibration that adjusts the individual heights, all being well with the system it's the only way of levelling the suspension. Life's too short to drive boring cars !

If you don't use a JLR service centre, ensure your Indy has the right equipment for setting and/or altering the suspension heights.
This can also be done by yourself, or Indy, if you have a Gap IID BT Tool, or Official LR or other suitable recognised equipment.
Wheel alignment will not alter the suspension height, Suspension height is adjusted electronically using above Tools. John

Hi Johnski

My indie told me that only the old P38 Range Rover had fully, independently adjustable suspension. The RRS and D3 etc can't have arbitrary figures input onto the computer to level the car.

Might have to go to Land Rover for this one?

Thanks

Hi Mr Rusty.

Thanks for the link to the suspension fix. A Yaw sensor is definitely something I know thats not been looked at previously. I'll get my indy to check it out as it does make sense if its out but, sounds like it could be something thats misaligned rather than not working properly.
For example, if its mounted slightly "off" horizontal then it will always read "off" to the same degree - as mine is.

Thanks again for the heads up and I'll keep you posted.

G

Grey.

Not sure if you got it fixed or not, but in my case the yaw sensor was reading a couple of degrees off and that worked out at about 25mm at the wheels. Odd one, but it looks fine now.

Hope you get it fixed. Thumbs Up 2015 RRS AB SDV6, Fuji White, Ivory
