JAYMY17 - yep this is the figure I'm still to see exactly as they haven't shown me that yet. There's more to finance now upfront so I'd assume I'm paying more. My main grip is that is that i had 1.5k discount from that dealership. The 3k from LR as a deposit contribution doesn't hit the bottom line of this dealer. See what they come back with today.

Ok...Well (IMHO) the overall cost is the main thing I would check and compare (unless you are planning to hand the car back at the end of the finance deal). They might be trying it on and hoping to stiff you with a more expensive finance deal.

Alexa111s, I thought you were talking about an svr, I would not take anything less than a six percent discount on any new Range Rover sport, when you do the build on line for an autobiography & look at the Pcp it shows you £3k deposit contribution straight away for a 2017 factory order, also with the road tax changes & brexit carry on I think a lot of dealers will be missing targets so the customer is in the box seat just now, if you have got time I would get quotes from the internet companies & work you dealer harder unless he is giving you a great trade in price to soften the blow, I got my new dynamic with 95% of my exact spec with a 6% discount, free service pack, 1k deposit contribution & free pure guard from dealer stock, this worked out cheaper than a six month old one of similar spec, fair enough it's a 16.5 year but there is always a deal out there especially at this time of year!

Good luck

Malc

However... when I popped in today the GFV had been reduced on the MY17 models compared to my finance deal on the MY16.5 Crying or Very sad BY £4.5K !!!!!! 10% less... really not happy about that

Whats your GMFV? Mine is £37.5k in 3 yrs, 24k miles on 2016.5MY HSE Dyn.

Finance contributions are a smoke and mirrors. FYI Jag are offering 10.9% APR on used cars, with £1500 finance contribution, which brings rate down a couple %, thats all. It is still a very expensive way to buy a car... Gone:

Hi all.. sorry been running around selling my BMW !

OK... my GFV is now at £40,523 and it was at 44.5k. APR is 6.9% and I have 3k off.

Business Manager has rang me and I'm going to call him Monday. I must admit it leaves a bit of a bitter taste on this deal as at the time in April / May when I ordered the car originally there were ZERO discount even on Broadspeed / Orange wheels etc and in the dealers they weren't really giving much. I think I did OK at the tim with 1.5k off. But now that 3k is there anyway I feel i should still get the 1.5k as well. Plus now you can get 8% instantly via a couple of online places that weren't there before.

Either way I can afford the car and I can't wait to get it, but I just prefer a more transparent approach and this doesn't feel right. I'm into people being honest as i am with my prospects / clients in my line of work.

See what happens Monday.

Alex

Shocked Which online brokers are giving 8%? Is that for a stock car? I went with a Dynamic and negotiated 5.2% (no finance) and 7.2% (with Finance) for delivery next March. After seeing this thread I checked online (car wow, autoebid and orange wheels) and the best I saw was about 5% (no dealer finance) and 6% (with Finance), so thought I did ok. That extra 0.8% could have got me a few more options Very Happy

Ps. Hope the BMW sale goes well. I need to sell my BMW 520d in a few months.

If I was financing a car I wouldn't use LR finance,,when I bought my 2 year old AB 6 month ago I went online & got 25k at 3.4% over 5 years so I only pay back about 27.5k & that was through Hitachi finance.

If you can afford the car, as you say, then stop messing around with Finance deals and do a cash deal with the vendor. Can't get any more honest and transparent than that!

lol.. said by a good fellow Scot Wink

Freeing up money to invest in other ways is cheaper than the cost of the finance. I'm placing the maximum deposit you can. For me this works out well and I always buy the car at the end.

That said.. you are very true, its a lot clearer when you just pay cash. It just doesn't always work out the best option.

I agree,, using a mortgage overdraft on a let property for example results in the interest being potentially offset...

Agree, the £1000 finance contribution paying the 6.9% no way offsets the 4% through my bank. I stuck in £30k and pay the interest on the balloon (£140/month), it's a GMFV, so I can walk away, buy or part-ex.... Gone:

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Was it a factory order or a car already at the dealers as stock? If the latter the dealership may have been very close to meeting a sales target bonus by registering the car before the end of Quarter/ Year and therefore worth their while to give a bit of extra discount to make the sales numbers better and get a bigger bonus from LR which would certainly be significantly more than the £2000 or £3000 extra that they "gave away" in discount. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
