MOT Advisory

Looking at a MOT report on a 2005 RRS 4,2SC and it states 'fuel tank cradle corroded'

Is this a big concern? Is it an easy fix?

It's a problem if it gives way with a full tank of fuel Shocked

Usually just couple of steel strap supports with something like an M12 bolt either side holding up a tank.

Can't say for sure on a RRS if it's the same set up but they're all usually similar. Can't imagine it's too expensive to replace.

Maybe just consider what else maybe corroded underside but it wouldn't bother me too much if I saw that. Just give it an inspection on viewing. Current: RRS 2010 L320 Facelift 3.0 TD V6 HSE 5dr Alaska White

They are a full tank cover on the RRS.

Have a look under the drivers side by the doors.

Corrosion is fine. It's a big steel plate under the car, exposed to the elements

This however, is not OK...

RRS Genuine Fuel tank fitting kit, Part No.: DHB500370 is £70.96. Price from Rimmer Bros, but try our sponsors, such as Duckworth Parts, for a possible better price. Not sure if this is the correct part for your car, but gives an idea on cost, pipes, connectors etc are extra of course, as required. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ItemSearch--se...r--srcin-1 John

RRS MY12 SDV6 HSE. Sumatra Black/Ebony & Walnut + Dynamic Pack, + Cold Climate Pack + Memory Pack, Digital TV/DVD, Premium Leather, Cornering Lights, Cooler/Fridge Box, & most Options.

Not sure where that part number came from, but I make it a WFN500021, with a retail price of around £135 + VAT, plus the required bolts and captive nuts that will likely disintegrate upon removal

Labour wise, I think it's approx 3 hours. Last one I replaced was £300 inc fitting
