United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black
21" or 22" in alloys ? Please help!

Hello forum,

Have placed an order but still have time to change the spec but would love your input on ride quality of both sizes. I have driven a rrs in the 21" size but not the 22" as the delaer does not have a car for me to drive with 22" so would be grateful if you can advise me what the ride quality is like.

I have been a bmw owner for the last 20 years and have driven mainly 3 series msports (my current car is a 2010 335 msport) and it is a bit of a firm ride but do you think i would notice much between the 2 sizes.

Thanks guys

I'm sure most on here will say 22's will shake your teeth out

But like you I came from Bmw, a m3, so used to a hard ride

Your choice will depend upon your type of driving (road/offroad) and the look of the vehicle you are going for.

Some people prefer the ride on smaller rims with larger sidewalls. I only test drove cars with 22's so I have no comparison to make however I dont feel the 22's are any compromise at all.

If you are driving on road then personally I would go for the 22's (I did). I also think they are more aesthetically pleasing......but its all down to personal choice.

The only way you will know is to drive cars with both types. The other option is get the 22's and if you dont like them sell them on ebay to fund your purchase of 20's or 21's. 2016 Range Rover Sport SDV8 HSE Dynamic (Indus Silver/Santorini Black Pano Roof, Ebony/Cirrus leather, custom grey Style 508 alloys)

Ive got 22" on my 2014 ab & I haven't a problem with them,,they were different on the RRS1 with the 35 profile but the 40 profile is a lot more comfortable.

The 22" and 21" look great until you kerb them! I agonised over this and checked all the RRS's I could find. Nearly every one I saw on big wheels had both near side rims damaged. I've opted for 20"

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I have 22's on my HSE Dynamic and the ride doesn't feel any different from previous RRS's on 19 or 20" wheel/rubber. I also take mine off road and so far we have never had a flat or got stuck running on the 22's. I do have a set of AT's from my TDV8 but so far have never felt any need to use them on the L494. While I would be the first to admit that I haven't done any serious mud plugging yet in the L494 I've had no issues on green lane type runs and anyway I have a Defender90 with winch and MTRs for the really serious mud plugging so why wreck the Sport. I have kerbed my 22's as we have very high granite set kerbs around here and I managed to scuff both 19"and 20" alloys on various RR's that preceded my RRS2, just a pity that I wasn't enjoying myself off-road when doing the damage......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
