United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Things move on very quickly in the tech world and there is a £100 camera catchily named the DDPai M6+ that has a good review by the legendary TechMoan:

If my Mini 0803 lets go then I might give this a whirl. Particularly like the parking mode feature and the wi-fi 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Just purchased a Thinkware F770 twin camera with hardware kit. Should I be seeking out a piggy back fuse connector for the hardwiring bit? Is there anything else I should be thinking about for a self install? Robin

I got the piggy back fuses for mine but when the guy came to install my tracker he hardwired the dash cam in for me Thumbs Up..I don't know which fuses he wired in to as I wasn't watching him.You need to check the fuses as you need a constant live,,ignition live & a earth.

Cheers Andy
When the kit arrives, I'll have a play around, but thanks for the heads up. Might order a piggy back now just in case. Robin

I would be interested to see some photographs of how Thinkware 770 front & rear cameras look when they are installed. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Was looking at getting the thinkware 770 but from what has been said do you all think getting the 750 is a better option and just update the firmware , what would be the difference in them??

Andy.

I went for the 770 as I was not sure if the firmware upgrade includes the improvements to super night vision camera. Also the time lapse improvements. And for another £30 or so, it seemed worth it - that's just a third of a tank of fuel after all Robin

This is where I mounted my 770,1st pic where it was before then I moved it below the mirror to get the gps to connect quicker.

Mmm can't work out why 1st pic ended upside down.

I have a nextbase 402g installed, it's good but they all suffer from internal battery fail normally around 10 months, so then it's back to the seller to try claim for a repair under warranty, if your lucky it fails well with in 12 months. Mine died at 11 months so I had to buy my own internal battery (took a lot of googling to find the right one) and begin minor surgery replacing it.

This would be my next choice

Can take a 64gb card where the nextbase is maxed at 32gb.

This guy is on another forum I frequent, I also subscribe to his you tube channel, but this definitely highlights the usefulness

Have you a got a link to where you got your battery from mate? I have the same cam but its telling me the battery is low (although its permanently hardwired Rolling Eyes)

OK, camera now received and installed. I wired mine to Fuse F12 (horn) for the permanent live feed, and F47 (which has a switch symbol I think) for the Switched live. I used one of the glove box fixing bolts for the earth lead.
Went out for a jolly to try it out and picture quality seems pretty good.
I like the PC app you can download as it allows you to see both front and rear cameras synced together. The USB interface is very clever as well, or there is a standard SD card adapter for the micro SD card.
I have downloaded the latest firmware and speed camera data - very straightforward - just follow the instructions on the web site.
Not keen on being nagged by the built in (american) voice and I am sure I will reduce her chatter over time but at present I have all the bells and whistles turned onto evaluate them.
Wire routing for the rear camera was OK - I just felt I should be careful not to impede the multitude of airbags as I went from the front to the back. Notice that you need to leave a loop of wire by the rear camera to allow for boot opening.

Eaters could I just query why you didn't fit your rear camera at bottom of screen rather than top, and inside the wiper sweep? John

Right John. Had a look. As best I can work out, I think the supplied cable may have been a bit marginal for length, it may have given a poorer view being lower down, and I was probably a bit too lazy as it would mean taking the cable down the side of the rear screen and the across.

I could move it down a tad to get within the wiper sweep. And perhaps at the same time I could hide the exposed cabling... Thumbs Up

Regards
