foundry satin grey stained?

I know i don't have my RRS anymore but thought i would ask the question on here

My 2011 FFRR has a sort of matt grey finish to the side vents and grill surround and bonnet vent but they have been stained with what i am assuming is a strong TFR used by car washes?

Has anyone any idea if this can be rectified or will it need repainting
Thanks in advance

Thanks thats what i thought. I have tried several products to try and remove the stainlng but none have worked so it looks like they will have to be repainted Rolling Eyes

I beleive the is a type of chemical discoloration but no clue as to what chemicals caused it. I have the same discoloration on the front fascia around the grill. There's really no way to get it out without repainting or some sort of cover up. My best guess is it may be caused by salt collected during the winter mixing with the soaps from the touchless car wash since the soaps they use can be pretty aggressive.

I'm no chemist so I'm probably way off but I can't think of anything else.

Is this of any help?

It may not solve the problem, but might shed some light on how it occurred. Robin

That sounds like snake oil to me. Traffic film by the definition given in the link you posted can all be removed with a clay bar and if need be, dish soap to trip the wax and sealant layers to start fresh with what some people call "naked paint". then you do a light coat of cleaner wax and re-seal.

As for the plastic trim... Short of some sort of abrasive, that stuff will not come out. Pretty sure re-painting is the only alternative.
