Scotland 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Rear Propshaft Centre Bearing

Hi Lads

Working through servicing on the Sport, Managed to replace Fan Belt without removing Fan (more due to the fact that I couldn't get the fan off).
And to my surprise this appears to have cured the Tinkling noise I had on start-up Confused

Went under to remove the cover to replace the Fuel Filter and have noticed that the Centre Bearing/Rubber mount on my rear Propshaft is Goosed. What's the thought's on replacing the Centre Bearing/Rubber Mount or should I replace the full Propshaft.

Is it still ok to use the car when the Bearing/rubber mount is like this. Need to use car over weekend and look to replace Bearing /Rubber mount or Propshaft next week.

Cheers Jock. Thumbs Up

The general view over on Disco is that replacing the full prop shaft is the best option. The bearing can be done but... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Re Propshaft

Found an article in LR Addict showing a Centre mount replacement ,Not sure about the Peening of the joint and spline cover if it would be successful. Also quicker to replace with a new one.

Island 4x4 have a GKN Prop for £190 +vat ,Can anyone recommend anywhere else with a better price.

Hi Lads

Removed the Propshaft today and the rear Hardy Spicer also notchy ,So have ordered a New propshaft .

Just an afterthought is it okay to re-use the bolts with Loctite threadlock or should these also be renewed.

Manual says discard the (4) bolts from the diff end but reuse the (6) bolts from the transfer box end. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
