Oh bu**er.

Long weekend trip, increasing levels of driveline vibration (frequency tells me propshaft related). Took a look underneath when I got home - back end liberally covered with diff oil..................guess it took the pinion seal out.

Trip to the dealers is imminent. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Still drives OK, so there must be some oil left in the diff yet.

And frankly just too busy at work for the next couple of days to worry about it! MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Rather worrying that so new a vehicle has lunched its rear diff. I guess the seal was damaged when it was put together in the factory. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Well, all we really know is that there is a (admittedly slight) high speed driveline vibration and some leaking oil.

The diff is working fine still, and not making any untoward noises. But I do suspect an unbalanced propshaft has taken out the pinion seal.

Am I upset? Yes but not hugely, I know my dealer will take care of me once I get a chance to talk to them! Stuff goes wrong all the time, it's how the supplier deals with it that matters. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

LRA coming to take a look this morning.

Edit: LRA man confirmed diff input seal leaking, although no major oil loss yet, level was OK. Also confirmed he had seen issues with faulty propshaft CV joints. Amazingly polite, these LRA chaps!

Going into Dealer this afternoon, will be in a courtesy Disco Sport for a few days, which is fine as I wanted to scope one of those out for the wife anyway. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I have not had this disaster.
But shortly after getting our car (mileage 15K) I noticed drips on the car port floor.
A quick look revealed it was from rear diff.
Called LRA as I was not sure if it was now very low on oil.
It had 1st service in January but they might not have spotted it.
LRA chap arrived promptly and was extremely helpful.
Propshaft oil seal into rear diff weeping.
He did not quite say "not another one" but I got that feeling.
He booked it in at Sturgess Leicester who were extremely busy (February). After a few weeks of a loan DiscoSport all back and OK. Current: MY15 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Aruba Gold, HUD, Meridian 1700w

Why do people put up with DS loan cars? Am I the only one who refuses anything other than a RRS?

If the dealer doesn't have one, they hire one from Thrifty via Landar for me.

Would have made a fuss about getting a RRS as a loaner, but frankly I actually did want an extended test drive in a DS, so no problem for me.

If however, the issue lasts more than a week............ MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

England 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Santorini Black

Well mine has gone in for warranty work today, they quoted about a 6 week wait for ANY loan car:

Paint Peeling on front bumper around headlight washer.
Groaning at medium speed cornering, along with vibration under drivers left foot (weird one)
Passenger seat out of alignment (rubbing on the centre console)
Rear Arm Rest no longer latches (so it falls down all the time)
DAB radio suddenly given up the ghost
Proximity sensor on passenger side suddenly become over active
Headlights (automatic) keep flashing people, very oversensitive and no delay (yes I've checked the settings)
Car stalled a few thousand miles ago - doubt I will get any answer on that one.

To be fair, lots of small issues but nothing too major...I hope! 2014.5 Mariana Black 5.0 Supercharged V8 Autobiography

It's a load of rubbish when they say that about loan cards. Don't put up with it.

They have a Landar fleet they have access to. If Landar don't have any vehicles suitable, they hire vehicles through Thrifty. Unless LR start to feel things in the pocket, they have zero incentive to improve.

Been told today that the diff will be replaced, because "the special tool needed to replace the input shaft tool is not available"? So LR escalated it to complete diff replacement.

Still chasing down the driveline vibes.

Wonder what the stock situation is for spare diffs? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
