Never really worked out why they are there, assumed it was protect arch lip from small stones ect. flying off tyre and as they are cheap enough to replace thought might as well.

Cheers

Assuming you have Front Mud Flaps then the Fronts are 225mm long and the Rears are 310mm might pay to allow extra couple of mil. to play with. One of the Long one's will do both of the Rears, either one of the Shorter One's will do both Fronts, leaving 1 long and 3 short ones spare for next time, or sell on. Laughing

Well that's weird then because my fronts are definitely no more than 100mm and they were ordered from Dan at Duckworths. I still have one of the old ones and that is the same.

Col - I know you are the absolute master of knowledge on the subject of our cars so is there a possibility that the later models had longer wheelarch protectors? Getting into real nerd territory here I know but isn't that what forums are all about sometimes? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Ok going on your measurements, I have enough to do 3 sets!
The 2 shortest LR005165 are 480mm,
The 2 middle LR001624 are 520mm
The 2 longer LR001623 are 760mm.
So in theory 1 long for both rear and 1 shortest will do both front, (yes I have flaps). I can do that twice, that's left me with 2 520mm lengths. Combined front and rear is 535mm so basically they are short by 15mm! Which is 7mm each end just short, I can live with that.

I may put the slightly shorter ones on first, keep a second set and sell on a set, after all the originals lasted 7 years before they swelled and fell off.

Be interesting to know which part numbers went where on the freelander.

Hi Paddi,

225mm is definitely the length of the Front one's on mine, about 25mm of it goes just under the mud flap it is possible I made them longer when I replaced them but really can't remember if I did or not. Will try and add picture later.

When mine dropped off I didn't bother replacing as they hold water ect then you get corrosion.

I have 2 massive chips about 5p size on my wheel arch lip caused from stones flying off the front tyres, had my trims been in place I would still have paint there now.lol. I have ordered a Hammerite rust pen to treat these areas and then touch them in with touch up pen before I fit them on.
