United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi All,

Am a newbie to the RRS, pick mine up this Friday. I want to do the same to mine but have a newbie question or 2...

1. Do I need to heat the badges with a hairdryer first to soften the glue?

2. Seen the thread about using dental floss to remove the badges...all good, but what do you use to remove the muck that is left behind?

3. What should I use to clean the surface first before sticking the new badges on.

Apologies if there is a FAQ on here already, I've not been able to find it. Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

Martin

For what it's worth, I've done badge stuff on 3 cars and this is how I've done it.

1) It definitely helps, but isn't essential. Cuts down on remaining muck, but hot water with bubbles can do a good enough job paired with dental floss.

2) I've removed it with hot water, bubbles and rubbing, provided you don't rub it with anything that scratches. All depends how long the badges have been on the car, too.

3) I just use isopropyl alcohol, which I have in abundance as I make my own french polish. Alcohol wipes are fine.

Thanks Tom. Hot water, bubbles and elbow grease it is then.

Cheers

Spain 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

Hi Martin, one other thing to bear in mind. Before removing the badges clean all around and behind the old badges as grit gets trapped there and could cause scratches when removing them. A soft brush with soapy water is ideal.

I removed my badges without any lubrication and picked of the remaining adhesive with my nails without any problem. Deciding exactly where to place them and what to align them to is the next issue. The template I got with mine didn't align them properly on the tailgate. It must have been the set up for the bonnet or the new tailgate. I measured down from the base of the rear window for each letter so that they followed the curve of the tailgate.

Hope some of that helps. RRS 2011 TDV6 HSE Limited Edition, Fuji. Previous owned: Vogue 3.5, Vogue 3.9, Vogue 4.0, Disco2, Disco3

The easiest way to remove the badges on the exterior is with a hairdryer and a length of dental floss to act as a cutter for the softened adhesive. Removing the badges on the interior is more difficult, especially the one on the steering wheel boss. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care

I have done this on several occasions and simply used a kettle of boiling water, and brake cleaner to remove remaining adhesive and clean the surface.
