The "Faults & Fixes" forum

Hi all,

This new section is intended for the sharing of faults along with their fixes.

If you know of a Range Rover Sport issue which has a known fix, please share it here so we can build up an archive of fixes and solutions.

DO NOT ask for technical help for a problem here, this should be posted under General or Technical instead.

Any suggestions for the use of the new forum to improve it are warmly encouraged Thumbs Up Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Since the Discovery 3/4 and Range Rover Sport share so much of their architecture and engineering it is also worth checking the following links:

A little more information would be helpful, such as what age the car is, how many miles, what engine, does it do it all the time etc...

Also, asking the question in the correct part of the forum will result in many more people seeing the question, and may have an answer for you

Thumbs Up

Take it to Halfords or kwikfit. Mine was completely empty. £49. Good price.

RRS NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH FOB!!

Hi.. My RRS 55plate 4.2 v8 supercharged is being a bit temperamental at the moment, I've had it just over a year and had no problems.. Been away for the weekend and whilst away it wouldn't lock or unlock, I was having to unlock/lock using the passenger door handle.. Got back to home town and was ok for a few times... This morning it's at it again.. Any ideas?? .. Thanks

You shouldn't attempt to refill or charge Air Con systems, there are strict rules and laws on this, due I believe to release of hazardous gasses into atmosphere. This applied more to the old gas used in air con systems. People carrying this out have the proper equipment to drain and capture and refill your system, and add a dye if a leak is expected. If you have this equipment then I apologise. I believe (told read somewhere) you can purchase tins for DIY, but not ad visible as you can get severe burns and wouldn't wish injury to any members.
There are many specialists out there that can do it, or the multinationals using a all in one self contained unit. John

Remember finding the ports once - think they are next to the battery on the inboard side; you'll have to take off the battery dust cover to see them. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
