LPG conversion for V8 / s/c

Hi there nice forum, i'm about to buy a RRS but i dont know which one yet.........

What you guy's think about that ?
Is it possible ? is it safe ? what about the s/c version ?

agree, nice forum.
What do we think about gas converting the V8?
sounds good . I think it's possible and safe. Has anyone had it done on the Sport yet?
It would probably work out about as economical as running a diesel but obviously take longer to fill and need space for the tank. Cost of qualified installation could be anything between £1000-£3000 dependant on type and tank size etc.. so you'd need to do some sums to weigh up long term financial benefits.

And how long are the government (UK) going to freeze the duty on gas? probably until enough of us have converted and they feel it in the pocket. Unfortunately, cherrybay, our government are not trusted very much by motorists.

2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Bonatti Grey

Hi cherrbay,
I quite fancied the SC but couldn't bear the fuel useage.
I had my last petrol Range Rover converted to gas and would highly recomend it.
There was no difference in performance, could switch from petrol to gas or vice-versa on the move, had a 95litre tank in the spare tyre compartment and achieved equivilent to 30-35 mpg against petrol costs.
The only downside was the 95 litre tank could only manage 200 miles max. and then if I couldn't find gas I hated paying for petrol.
A company in Morecambe, Lancs did the job. A Range Rover specialist for £1200 with all the certificates. I'll try and speak to them and let you know if they have any plans for the sport engine including the SC. Of course not much use for you in Antwerp but may be of interest?
When I had mine converted in 2002/2003 the government said a duty freeze of 3 years minimum would be employed and I paid around 29p-33p per litre.

People talking sense. Instead of how fast and bragging about 8 mpg we have a thread about improving MPG.
In the seventies and eighties the RR petrol managed around 16/17 mpg on average and it's quite the same in 2005, whereas nearly all other vehicle manufacturers have vastly increased fuel economy. We should be looking at todays petrol Range Rovers averaging a good 20-25 mpg minimum.
And how many of you use them for off road work apart from a little fun? None? a small handful?

Robin Sunpower - are you some kind of eco warrior waiting for a chance to pounce on 4x4 owners? I notice your post was your first. What car do you drive? - one of those Toyota half breeds I bet. Dont get me wrong Robin Sunpower - I would love to improve the overall MPG of my Sport. I Am inthe process of looking at a few mods that are available that will help ie. New Performance Air Filter & adjustments to the ECU ( these still under review/test ) but I'm sure there is room for improvement? I would also agree that LR hav'nt made great inroads themselves in this area since the original RR .

For me its a simple - you pays your money you takes your choice. Its not the cheapest nor is it the most expensive of cars to buy or run - I just like it and theres nothing more to it

Hi Guy's
Today i had a test drive in a tdv6 .
And i must say very very comfortable but less power then i expected ... ( my renault trafic compagnie dci 140 van is faster ?!!)
But i still liked it .
I will try to find out as much as possible about the LPG conversion and the new Diesel v8 . before i will make my choice because i just love the car...

I don't think I have seen ANY threads bragging about how fast these cars go or being able to only get 8mpg? Where have you been reading this? Not a good way to endear yourself to a forum community on your first post!

Yes, mine get's regular off road use actually. Every weekend. The people I am with who have diesel Range Rovers are only getting 18-21mpg, so me doing only 16mpg doesn't seem that different, except my fuel is costing me less to buy and I have more fun when I poke the accelerator.

RRUK if you carefully read the posts you may well find that it was YOU!
However, it wouldn't be the first time you've put you're foot in it! you have a habit of it. Why don't you spend a couple of hours reading what you have said and once again edit out your embarrassment!

Would you like to know, being the highest poster on the forum, you have been chosen as an example of the average RR ownner with your posts, attitude and comments, all very helpful thank you very much in our campaign for higher taxation on 4 x 4 s, higher fuel prices and an ultimate goal of a ban on 4x4 vehicles for everyday on-road use. How do you suppose to " give peace a chance" when you are clearly out to prevent a lot of people from making their own choice on which vehicle they should drive.

How on earth you think you are going to achieve a total ban on 4x4 vehicles I dont know. Does this include every 4 wheeel drive car such as any of Audis' quattro range ( 4 wheel drive ) or VWs' 4 Motion equipped cars or Subarus or Mitsubishis'....... the list is endless!

Lets Ban planes,trains,ships,buses,coaches & trucks whilst were at it .... dread to think what damage they are causing to our planet? Perhaps we could revert back to horse and cart for global trading.

Why should people pay higher taxation for a modern/clean "4x4" compared to someone driving a vintage ford escort driven by 2wheels?

Try getting the rest of the world ( including China - beacause there are'nt many of them) to fall into line with your aims - As for your wish for even higher fuel prices

Why is it then that nearly every mainstream manufacturer is producing ( or about to produce/launch ) a 4x4 . ANSWER = People want them.

Hey dont get me wrong as soon as we are able to " tele-port " ourselves from one place to another, then I'll ditch the car - 4x4 or not
