Gongs - Key in the Ignition

My RRS is 07MY. Had it for 6 years now and asked this same question every couple of years hoping someone has developed a solution, which they haven't.

Gongs when the seat belt is undone and you are in the car, can be stopped permanently by going through a particular sequence with the seatbelt - light still displays on the dash but the gong is gone.

The other annoying Gong is the one where the key is in the ignition and the drivers door is open. Has anyone developed a way of stopping this - also, sometimes the gong only lasts for 60 secs then switches off where other times it just goes on forewever - what makes it go off after 60 secs.

Yes I appreciate there are ways to bypass the door switch but I am not interested in these so please don't suggest them.

I am looking for a software solution like the one for the seatbelt. Anyone found one? Smile

Thanks

Hmm figured as such - do you know what scenarios will turn off the gong after 60 secs as happens sometimes. I haven't worked what slight change makes this happen?

Thanks

I think it's just when the doors are open and you don't open any other doors or change the Ign status. Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks - I might try a few different scenarios and see what happens. 07MY RRS TDV6

Hmm curious - back ed the car out the garage and parked on the lawn. Switched off and left the key in the ignition in the off position - opened the door and left it open and it gonged for 60secs then switched off.

I then tried to replicate this - sit in drivers seat, key in the ignition and the get out and leave the door open as before and the gong went on forever Neutral hmm

So started the car backed it back and drove forward 10m and parked as per the first scenario - switched off key in ignition and got out and left the door open - gong went on forever.

So still not clearer on why the gong will stop sometimes after 60 secs but not in others.

All so confusing.

Your guess is as good as mine - all seem plausible but nothing seems consistent. 07MY RRS TDV6

I noticed it was an option in the IDD tool to stop it. But it didn't work Neutral

Mind you the three flash indicators didn't work either.

Three flash indicators would work, but you also need to update the Body Control Unit. Bodsys Brake Bible
