Upgrading 2012 screen to Dualview unit possible?

Hi guys, Ive been reading up on this forum alot and recently bought a 2012 HSE that doesnt have dual view and was wondering whether its possible to just swap out the existing screen for a dual view one without any issues?

Also how can i tell what unit has dual view? Ive seen some screens on ebay but no idea whether they are dual view or not.

Another thing I was thinking of doing was to speed up the loading on the infotainment I was looking to find where the hard disk was located and try to put an ssd in place to hopefully speed things up.

any input would be great thanks guys.

The Hardrive is a Integral part of the Screen Unit. Whether it can be upgraded or not wouldn't know but would be inclined to think not.

Cheers

Thanks for your response Col. Id like to give it a try, im a computer engineer by trade and delve alot into circuitry so I might investigate further and see what i can do.

Would just like to know how I can identify a dual view screen by model number or connections at the back and whether its a straight swap over from the standard screen without any modifications then i can hopefully get one and see about swapping out the hard drive.

Also where did you get all that for the RSE from?

The 2012 Range Rover Sport was not available with Dual View. The only Dual View in the previous generation was on the L322 from 10MY.

The angle and location is wrong for the dual view to work effectively, hence why it was not offered on the L320 RRS and still isn't on D4

I have a 2012 RRS and the dual view screen should be exactly the same using the same fascia? Are you refering to the 2005-2008 dash peachy?

Also does the screen need pairing to the car or does it just work outta the box? its a used one pulled from a crash damaged RRS 2012 so hopefully its all working good.

In a Vehicle without Dual Screen it has a button on the dash which has Setup on it, in a Dual Screen vehicle this button has a Icon on it of in effect Two Screens on it.

If you wish can post picture of dash as I have Dual Screen as well.

Cheers
Col

Check that the crashed one had Dual View as this was a Option not Standard Fit, although I believe it may have been in the Black Edition as Standard Fit.

I'm afraid Peachy is right as there are different Part Numbers for the switch panel be it Dual View or Not.

Cheers

Really interested to know if a straight swap will work. I presume the Config will need to be updated to enable the dual screen. Wonder if that config change also alters the function of the setup button?

Would be really good if you can take pictures along the way to show the process steps taken. This can also help with support should it be more complex than expected. -----------------------------------------------

Soon as i recieve the screen ill take some pictures as i progress. Im hoping the screen That was sold to me was a dual screen as thats what i was told.

My dash has the setup button by the mode knob which i guess thats what your referring to.

Hopefully it is a straight swap over and the setup button then becomes the dual view button but once i recieve the unit ill have a play about and see.

Does anyone know what the rear of the dual view screen or model number should be? the one i bought has the model number of 3Q9GS2003 and is manufactured by bosch.

I have the dual view on MY2012 RRS SDV6 HSE Lux and there is indeed a different button/switch for dual screen (not to be confused with the motorway junction readout and map which looks like a dual screen), I believe you will find there is a different control board for this setup, not just a switch change over I'm afraid. Details of both systems were in my owners handbook, which came with the car. John
