Panoramic Sunroof defect

Hi All,

Just thought I would ask if anyone has had the same issue as me.

Was as sunny day on Saturday so thought I would try using the sunroof, I pressed the button for the sun blind to wind back to reveal the below. At first I thought it was some saw of lubricant from the roof rails but to my shock it was in between the glass. Was about to drive past the dealer so dropped in to ask them about it. Spoke to one of the head guys who I haven't spoken to regarding my car. He confirmed that this was the case and is going to speak to land rover on Monday. Said it is not an easy fix and may have to ship the car back to the UK for it to be done.

I did bring it up why it wasn't picked up in the PDI which he quickly responded saying because I didn't let his guys clean the car they wouldn't of spotted it...

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Surprised that LR's factory QC people didn't pick it up too, it is very obvious. For such an expensive vehicle there should be no question about replacement, problem is the panoramic roof is a huge part of the the body strength and removal could cause all sorts of stress issues................. I hate to mention the R word but that might be the only way to go and not end up with a twisted body.............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim, I thought the exact thing about the chassis but not sure what Land Rover are going to suggest.

I am hoping not to go down the replacement route given the Gtechniq coating and wheels which I very much doubt LR will pay to have redone on a new car.

Anyone know the wait time on SVR's at the moment? 2019 Urban Urus - May Delivery. Gone to the dark side...

If it's in the retractable part of the roof I guess it's easy to swap out. If it's fixed i feel for you as I'm sure that's not going to be so simple.

As for wait time I was told 4 to 5 months only last week.

It's the retractable part and I did ask the dealer about swapping out but he said it is a whole unit.... 2019 Urban Urus - May Delivery. Gone to the dark side...

At times Land Rover really do themselves no favours, do they?

You buy a brand new, expensive car that should have been through a robust QC system and it ends up with you like this.

I have said it in previous threads but if JLR are happy to send their products out with obvious defects then they should not be surprised when their customers REJECT them and ask for either a like for like replacement or a full refund.

Just my thoughts.....

Jim

Cheers for the advice guys.

Dealer spoke to LR and given that it was the front glass only it was a simple swap out of the glass which luckily only took a day. On another note they did leave my interior in a total mess so will be having words with the dealer principle 2019 Urban Urus - May Delivery. Gone to the dark side...

I very rarely have my blind closed, only times are if I'm leaving the car in full sun (that's not too often!) or at night sometimes driving in town the streetlights shining in can be annoying but again that doesn't happen all that often as where I live we don't have a lot of street lights anyway. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Glad it was sorted in the end fairly easily considering.

my cars always come back spotless so I must have one of the better dealers.
