LR EXPERIENCE, DUNKELD, SCOTLAND

What an Experience!!!

My wife and I had a FANTASTIC day at the LRE site in Dunkeld last Monday.

Very wet and windy. The LRE facilities had been flooded some time prior to our arrival but they were still up and running! Using the Hilton, Dunkeld for administration and lunch facilities. This did not detract from the "Experience" at all.

It was great to be able to take the L494 RRS HSE to its extremes - especially someone else's RRS!! As the vehicle we were driving was a MY16 instead of the MY15 that I own, I was able to see what differences had been introduced. The most impressive of which was the cameras. The ones I have fitted in my car are a total toy and an item that has singularly underwhelmed me. However on the latest MY they have corrected all the faults hat I had identified by adding washers to the cameras and making them far higher resolution. They are now worth the extra money paid for them and are a useful tool.

Anyway, if anyone on the forum has not been, GO.

A couple of Photos below, more on my gallery!

Cheers to all,

Must have amazing weather then to have flooded out their office and reception buildings as they are pretty high up there! I would have believed it if you had said that the hilton had flooded as it is lower down nearer the river! It is a great location and the steep downhill in through the trees must have been quite fun if the soil was saturated and slippery..... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim,

All you say is correct. The reason that the building flooded (up to window cill height, I'm told) was that the water backed up behind the bridge that crosses the river that feeds Butterstone Loch and it is when the bridge was overwhelmed, that the flood occurred. As I say, this happened around 10 days prior to my arrival and they recon the building will not be back in use for around 6 months as it will take that long to dry out. Officially they are not running further courses at the moment, just honouring prior bookings. There were only 2 Discos and my wife and I in the RRS on our day. Those with a voucher, but have not yet made a booking may have to plan to travel further afield to Englandshire if they wish to attend prior to this summer.

'Aye yours,
