Insurance

Hello all,
Has anyone found and can recommend any good insurers for RR sports?
Seems to be quite a spread on pricing plus some insist on trackers whilst others don't.

Thanks in advance.

A-plan are very good and I actually just renewed with them today. Very Happy

NFU give good cover especially in Europe and includes trailer cover. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard
Previous 2012 FL2 liked but boot too small
Previous to LR's 3 x Merc E320 estates - fantastic load carriers and long distance cruisers, ultra reliable. Only changed as needed a 4x4 high tow vehicle. Did have a 1955 early LR drop down windscreen and fuel tank under the drivers seat; again very reliable and super rugged.

I'm a big fan of Admiral- the only company I've ever stayed with for more than 4 years. Never had to claim though so not sure how good they are in that dept- but good value and easy to deal with

I'm currently insured through Adrian Flux. Only went through them because no other insurer (that I could find) will cover off road use. Before that I was with LV and they were excellent: good price and on the two occasions over several years we had to claim they were very straight forward and painless to deal with. I'd heartily recommend them. SWMBO's car is still with LV. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If you can get LR insurance, their cover is very good. Sadly too expensive for my circumstances. Been with Admiral before current insurer. They were OK except that they charged me every time I switched between 19" winter and 20" summer wheels despite arguing with different advisors/supervisors Rolling Eyes

Currently with NFU Mutual as they offer a very good level of cover. Excellent customer service too. You don't need to be a farmer or live in the countryside (I am totally opposite) to get a relatively decent quote from them nowadays. In the past they used to quote me ridiculous prices.

Thankfully I have never had to claim on car insurance so can't comment on any company's claims handling. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I'm with NFU now, and would recommend them. Was with A-plan before and would also recommend them. Thumbs Up

I've given up bothering with comparison sites, which, IME, only ever fail to make an accurate comparison in the first place. After a load of hassle claiming with both LV (my insurers) and Admiral (at-fault 3rd party's insurers), I prioritise customer service and claims handling more than before now. I also now have modifications to declare, and phoning round a few insurers and brokers of my choosing, not fretting about saving every penny, makes for a much less frustrating experience IMO. If NFU remain reasonable, I will be only too happy to stick with them. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I have both my RRS2 and 20 year old Defender 90 300TDi insured with Land Rover Insurance on the same terms policies, includes offroad use for both cars, trailers and roofrack contents and they were the cheapest by miles for where I live out in the sticks in Central Scotland. I have also insured with them since 1997. DirectLine wouldn't insure me claiming they didn't cover Land Rovers and they didn't want to cover offroad use anyway. All the cheap and chearful internet sites shied away from any mention of offroad use and even where I live in an FK8 postcode they all insisted on a Tracker even for the 90. LRI has covered all my needs and don't require a tracker on my 90 even though it is declared as stored on my drive, like the RRS. My job doesn't help get cheap premiums either but they are very competitive for me. Having had no claims ever in 34 years driving I was amazed at the attitude of some insurers too. IIRC (as I'm away from home at the moment) I pay £200 Full comp on the 90 and £295 on a 2015MY RRS2 HSE Dynamic. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Thanks everyone, looks like A Plan have come up with the goods. Just checking a few details (small print) & I think we are good to go & they were very easy to deal with, competitive on the price & when I mentioned this forum they seemed to be extra keen.
If the pricing turns out to be just as they say then I would recommend giving them a call.
I am with Admiral currently, runs out early Jan, I have maximum protected NCB, less than 6k miles a year (SDP - no work) & they want to put my premium up by 60%

I'll let you know the outcome & Merry Christmas everyone!
