New AB 15.5MY 4.4 vs New AB 16MY 3.0..bought 4.4..Thinkware?

4.4 = 15.5 MY available now but nearly 10 months in stock. 60 miles. Towbar, 22" wheels, priv glass, full spare wheel, Ad Xenon H'lamps, aditional washer bottle, body coloured fixed Roof- Fuji white, NB. Discounted to reflect MY and stock time.

3.0 = 16 MY late Jan delivery. Priv glass, full spare wheel, Ad Xenon H'lamps, aditional washer bottle, home link, remote heating, Black wood trim, Contrast sliding roof. NB. amendable for a short time.

As specked above the 4.4 discount equates to the same price as the 3.0 price. Puts me in one almighty dilemma. I'm coming from a long BMW history and have no Landrover experience/knowledge. Views, opinions and advice dearly sought? Thank you.

Take the age and engine out the equation and which spec do you prefer? I drove both v8 and v6 and both are great. The 4.4 isn't different enough to make me choose it above the 3.0 spec that I wanted. Make sense?

& there is me would have the 4.4 any day of the week - I was towing off road with the 3.0 last weekend, and found a marked difference - I also find the 4.4 from a standing start is better, and cruises with greater ease, and I blame my driving style for the following but I don't find the 3.0 any more economical during normal driving -

As duvl said - it's personal choice, and unless you are desperate for a feature not on the older model - I would choose 4,4

I should perhaps add I have a 3.0 loan vehicle whilst between 4.4 vehicles !

Test drove both the 3.0 and 4.4 today and as most others would also have done, the 4.4 won out. Salesman remarked that in his experience the mpg dif between the two engines was about 5mpg and to expect about a 35mpg average for the 4.4.

Also 15.5 and 16 MY dif (16.5 tbn) - no adblue hence higher VED, slight touchscreen menu differences, gesture boot, no Incontrol apps or Incontrol wifi.

I'm coming from a BMW 535 3.0L turbo so he also made the point that I'd be taking a step back in grunt with the 3.0.....point proved. Had hoped that after the drive I'd be ok to drop one or other as a potential purchase but despite what I've said above I'm still hugely torn. A great discounted deal on a car now that doesn't quite meet the spec I want or full price in March 16.5MY that does???? Help!

There are the things you never miss, things you notice occasionally, and things you notice each and every time you drive the car. The engine is one of the very few things of the latter.

Well I'm somewhat poorer now than when I woke up this morning....bought the 4.4. Yikes! Mid Dec delivery so standby for all sorts of silly questions then. Thanks to those that replied on here....really helped.

Dealer included Supagard and I'd welcome any suggestions that people feel I should be aware of. E.g Just discovered that Directline insurance may have an issue with the standard Thatcham cat 6 tracker supplied. Might have to cough up for a cat 5. Dealer also doesn't offer Wheel/alloy insurance. Anyone aware if I can obtain this type of cover elsewhere? Dealer Gap ins came down from 1270 to 900....I declined as I'll research elsewhere.

Counting the days already.

Nice choice Thumbs Up

Try Frank Pickles for GAP, recently got 4 years replacement new car policy for just over £200. Recall I paid something around the £300 for my Sport 3 years ago.
£900 is a joke still though!!! ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Got mine from ALA

https://www.ala.co.uk/gap-insurance

They do alloy, tyre and dent insurance too. Was much cheaper than dealer and very slick and easy to do. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

Thanks for tips ref insurance. I've dropped the need for GAP so no need to look at Frank Pickles. Couldn't find anything on Kam100. Links from him took me to a defunct website. ALA quoted Alloy £186 and Scratch £241 = £427 or £405 with 5% d/c. I'm going to see what the dealer can do before I buy.

Some advice please re boot carpet protection. LR offer 2 plastic liner trays - shallow £185 and deep £179 or a 3rd option - rubber at £157. Before I visit to inspect, are items liable to slide around in the plastic trays and are the trays liable to rattle? The rubber mat - does that have a lip around the edges to hold back tiny spillages? Anyone have any experience of the above sourced through Duckworth perhaps....better, costs etc?

Any other tips/advice gratefully received. tvm

ps. looking at this fitted at £333.

Anyone had this done? Good/bad etc?

I only have experience of the rubber boot mat and I find it excellent at providing a nonslip surface and you can still access the tie down eyes in the boot floor if you need them. It has got good gooves in it that will contain small spills, usually the "spillage" I seem to need to contain is mud and snow off the soles of boots in winter time and it can cope well with that scenario.
Although postage can be expensive you can often find them in the forum For Sale section as they often get removed from cars that people are selling on and they can take a lot of abuse 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Why is it taking a month to deliver a vehicle they have had in stock for 10 months?

I assume they'll be chucking a brand new battery in it for you? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the advice above. Noted ref the battery.....will push for a new one. As for the delivery time, nothing more to it other than releasing the funds from elsewhere. I've bought these goodies:
Mats, http://www.lrparts.net/range-rover-sport-l...-edge.html
Camera, http://www.racshop.co.uk/sat-navs-tech/das...amera.html
32 card fitted inc parking £333.

About to bite the bullet on Alloy wheel and bodywork insurance unless anyone has a better suggestion. ALA quoted Alloy £186 and Scratch £241 = £427 or £405 with 5% d/c.

Anything else I should be aware of or considering? Thanks again. RRS 4.4AB 15.5MY Fuji/Ivory
