Today I replaced the locking mechanism on drivers door (NSF).

It was not locking properly, I had to "help" the little lever..

I have had the same problem with the passenger door (OSF),
that was remedied by taking the mechcanism out, dismantling it,
opening it, opening the lockingmotor, rinse out, and reattach everything..

Did the same on drivers door the day before yesterday, but to no avail, still
unsufficient "wire-action"..

Bought a "new" lock form a breaker, good price, lightningfast delivery,
and changed the mechanism today..

Taking out the complete mechanism, with the doorhandle mechanism
was much much easier, than just taking out the mechanism, and fiddling
with lockingwires..

The "job" took about one hour, and that included taking the doorside of twice,
due to a wire getting caught in handle-lever..

Found good descriptions here on the forum..

Changed the engine oil at 8000m since the last time. An hours work, £50 for oil and £10 for genuine LR filter. Runs sweet as a nut. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I didn't do anything to mine but someone else tried rub the corner off my rear bumper. Judging by the white paint left behind he's going to be more bothered by it than me... Laughing

I know lots on here would be having kittens at this stage but bumpers are there for just this sort of thing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Drove mine to Halfords and bought a Karcher snow foam applicator and some Autoglym foam to put onto my pressure washer - will make cleaning the RRS, Defender and a huge conservatory roof much easier! I also bought some spray on RainX liquid to try on the headlight lenses to see if it causes and slush and snow that builds up on them will just slide off as it is a pain when driving in falling snow to have to get out every few miles and clean the lenses at night...... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Today I fixed the faulty numberplate-light.

Did some measuring with a multimeter, 12V in the lead.,
and a good earth, but still no light....

After some opening of looms and measuring, suddenly the
+12V lead disintegrated, the copper had transmogrified
into a green substance that "almost" was conductive..

Had to take the spoiler off to get to the connector, and
make a new lead down to the junction down by the
glasshatch lock.

Now I have a illuminated numberplate, and everything is
in order for the MOT.

Sweden 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HST Java Black

Yesterday was an active day..

The last week(s) I have noticed that the car, when reversing
and applying the break, souns like a stopping freighttrain..

Did a digital(fingertip) inspection of brakepads, and found
that the gap between calliper and brakedisk almost nonexistent..

Ordered new brakepads, changed them, cleaned all moving parts.

Now the sound has disappeared, and I can feel safe again.

Whilst at it, changed rear pads on brothers D3.
When he tested his brakes, and applied the EPB,
he got a screeching sound, , so it was off with rims,
and adjusting the EPB, so now he is also safe..

Thank god (and Bodsy) for "Bodsys Brake Bible"..

And to round off the day..

I have for a while had a faulty switch for the Cubby-cooler..

Found a switch on the "E-B", and have had it lying around for a while..

Yesterday evening, replaced it with the help of a gas-soldering iron,
foreceps, shrinktube, and nimble fingers..

Now in working order, but with a red indicator intead of a blue..
