Electrical Gremlins.... UPDATED

Hi All,

Hope you’re all having a good weekend Smile

UPDATES IN RED

I’m trying to get my car into top shape electrically after the alternator died 2 weeks ago and am looking to remove the gremlins I’ve got/ discovered as a result of this. OK so battery also died today as a result of the alternator failure I believe so replaced this and now majority of faults have gone Very Happy

I have researched here and on the web but not found the right answers, at least I don’t think I have… So hopefully you’ll be able to help.

Basically I have some fault codes and some inoperable parts… I’ll start with the inoperable parts…

Driver’s Seat and Mirrors: Solved with new battery Very Happy

Basically, nothing works on the Driver’s side including mirrors but no fault codes. Passenger seat works no problem. I’ve checked various fuses in the CJB. Fuse nos. 33 and 54 spring to mind but I’ve checked a couple of others as well.

Therefore I’m assuming either the main connector under the seat has a loose contact but more likely the Memory Module is knackered. So looking to get part no. YWC 500800 replaced.

Would appreciate any thoughts on what else to check… Confused

SatNav not working: Still ongoing, see below Whistle

Again no error codes but the SatNav doesn’t work as it should I think. Really here I think it’s the Nav computer/ DVD Player as I have tried various DVDs old, new and backups and nothing registered or works. See photo below:

I also have the impression the SatNav needs an update as it seems to be missing various display icons (I think) . Please see the photos below:

Therefore any ideas about the Nav computer? And also how to I update the SatNav screen software? I think I’ll have to get a replacement DVD player and start from there. Can anyone confirm the part no. as YIB500023 or is it YIB500070? Confused

Thanks Thumbs Up

Fault Codes:

Now the fun part fault codes….

Audio:

B1A56-01(2b) Antenna Circuit – this corresponds to the poor FM reception I seem to be having. Can anyone give me insight as to how to check for errors, where the module is and what the part no. should that need to be replaced if it’s defective as I've seen two very different modules and part numbers.... Still there so I guess a new module is required, can anybody confirm the part number please? This will also be checked when they reconnect the speakers

I also have a U1A03-62(2b) fault code in the audio section for “vehicle configuration parameters” which I suspect is to do with the fact the Sport is a USA spec and I’ve changed some settings for the FM radio to work, so not going to worry about that… Solved after I spent the time to cross check configurations and ensure everything matches in the ccfs'

Audio Amplifier:

B1A09-13(2f) and B1A10-13(2f) Speaker Circuits 9 & 10 I’m going to check the circuits and make sure the plugs haven’t come loose from the amplifier. Other than that not sure what to do if this fails. Any other ideas? Still ongoing. Connectors to amplifier check and okay, I guess at some point I'll have to have the cables followed to see if there's a break somewhere... Solved. Should have followed Occam's Razor theory... Decided to check if the speakers were reconnected when the headlinig was refurbished. Answer is a big NO. Spoke to garage they will fix at no cost Very Happy

Body Control: All solved after new battery installed Very Happy

B1B55-46(2f) which is the rain sensor module. Not sure of the exact problem but I think best to replace the unit and hope that solves it… Unless of course anyone can shed more light on the fault code and its meaning…

B1B56-87(2Cool is a fault code for the sliding roof module. Everything seems to be working. Therefore I suspect I need to cycle through a whole open/ close and hold the close button then this should disappear as I’ve read that the sensor for trapped fingers etc. isn’t functional and needs resetting when the battery is disconnected or completely drained. I’ll give this a try but would appreciate any other advice. Thumbs Up

Finally I have at least 3 fault codes for “local interconnect network bus circuit 1 [EG: 1/+B1A98-01(2E)] which really have me confused. Any help here would be great.

Thanks in advance for all the help. Thumbs Up

Mods: Is there a way to "strike through" text to show completed/ solved? Dear Mods I found the 'button' doh....

Cheers

Guy

Hi

YIB500023 and YIB500070 have been superceded to same number LR018252 but please sit down first as it is around £3000.00 inc. Vat. from L/R so I think I would look elsewhere.

And that's Exchange as well.

Cheers

Thanks Col,

Just fell off the chair I was sitting on.... GBP3,000?? I found this and others are similarly ppriced:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Navigation-DVD-Pla...1983541235

Used of course but I really see no benefit in getting new for a 10 year old vehicle.

Have you tried a clening disc in the navigation drive?

The navigation software (Multi Media Module) is updated with the navigation DVD. The touchscreen software itself, can be flashed with a suitable diagnostic tool. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

HI LfW

I have in the past. I presume you mean something like this?

http://www.amazon.com/Allsop-ProLens-Clean...B00000J1QM

I have tried but makes no difference.

From what I can tell I can eject and insert a disc but I can't actually here it 'spinning up' to load like you do in a laptop or PC which lends me to think the drive is knackered Confused

Cheers

Yes, that sort of thing. Thumbs Up

Rather than spending money on replacing the drive, you might like to consider this: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic120453.html Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

LfW,

Great article I've posted some questions to see if it'll work as the biggest problem right now is that I need a screen with Middle East maps otherwise it;s a no go from the start....

I'll keep you informed.

Thanks again for the heads up Thumbs Up

Anybody got any ideas on the other errors?

Thanks

Would also be good if loaded with the latest maps, since it can't be updated unless fitted to the correct vehicle. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
