Guess insurance will claim it was caused by an act of God.
Whether it was your God or others will be a cause of mediation.........

a good dent company will be able to minimise, maybe not completely remove, the damage. Insurers wont want to know id think and its not worth claiming.

Whether it's worth caliming is down to your circumstances, but I would think hail damage should be covered on a comprehansive policy. You need to have a good look through your policy wording and exclusions.

The "Act of God" phrase is often quoted in these situations but, in practice, I don't think it's as easy for them to get out of as that. We're not talking a major event like a hurricane or something that could have been forseen/reacted to like flooding. Do you have a garage or anywhere you could have put the car to prevent/mitigate damage (I'm presuming not) and was the car parked where it's "supposed" to be parked - these could be key factors?

In terms of repairing the dents, is the paint cracked?

Hail damage like that is covered here as hailstones that size are not exceptional. The last big one in about 2009 wrote off thousands of cars.

maybe insurers will cover it. is it worth the hike in premium next time around if they can be fixed with Dent Devils etc? EVen so, not nice to see the pride and joy at the mercy of the weather.

The forecast over the weekend was for giant hailstones locally...this didn't occur thankfully. But I was considering beforehand to cover the bonnet and roof with wet towels in the hope that this would soften the impact! Possibly a bit OTT but that was my theory.

Peanut Bob WHY did you not let me know Big Cry Big Cry
I've decided to leave it til it stop raining, clean it up and get a Dent man to come and have a look, but I don't want it looking any worse, so might just live with it and take it to a dealer wet when I trade it in
Thanks for the above info everybody Thumbs Up Thumbs Up MY 13 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition

Sorry about that! Embarassed I've been there before. Back in the late 80s I had a Cortina Estate which whilst driving near Chester got hit by an avalanche of golf ball size hailstones. I reversed into a farmyard in a desparate desire for shelter, and to avoid the windscreen being stove in. It helped but then a river ran through the yard. The whole roof and bonnet was pot marked by dozens of dents, all quite shallow.
So, on Friday evening, seeing the forecast, I was thinking have I got enough towels for 2 cars...should I clear out the garage again to get 1 vehicle in...or have I enough towels...the new RRS is aluminium - is that better or worse. Whilst, I was considering all these options the storm shot past with 30 mins of lightning but no hailstones. So, I took no further action!

here's a couple of quick videos I took of the storm we had in Brisbane last November and it caused roughly $1.1 billion in damages.

It was a big one but not unknown for us to get 3 or 4 of these at almost this intensity every summer.

ACT OF GOD..........what a convenient way for an insurance company to get out of paying out ........it may have been a viable excuse in 1400 but this is the modern world we live in .... Surely they cannot keep using that old hackneyed phrase !!

What does Dawkins do in a case like this?
