Navigation/road map on instrument panel?

I've seen a vid of the Range Rover Sport Hybrid in which you can see that the (full TFT) instrument panel also displays part of a map. I hadn't seen this before or even mentioned. Is this something new?

Mine does it when the sat nav is on. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Gone but not forgotten:
2014 RRS2 SDV6 HSE in Loire Blue
2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE in Santorini Black

Mine too - do you have the full TFT speedo screen?

I don't have an RRS yet, but I hadn't seen this covered anywhere and I did read that some found that they didn't take advantage of this screen enough, so I thought the map data wasn't displayed there like on quite some cars these days.

The feature is useful especially when combined with the head up display option. I often now have the main infotainment screen showing something other than the sat nav map, instead relying on the HUD direction displays, backed up by the junction info displayed in the instrument panel. I've got the InControl Apps option installed in my car and have tried the Sygic sat nav app, however, whilst the navigation side is great, the integration with the car does not extend to showing the junction view in the instrument panel. I found having to look across at the infotainment display much less convenient (and less safe) so I've stopped using the Sygic app and reverted to the standard sat nav.

Can you send addresses from your phone to either sat nav?

As a side, I had HUD on my X5 and the Nav directions stayed on there permanently

I find on my RRS that the Nav appears on the screen and the HUD then disappears until the next set of spoken instructions are required.

Is there any way to keep the the nav on the screen all the time when its in use?

You can to the Sygic InControl app (navigate to a contact). And whilst you can't (currently) access apps like FindMyFriends, you can also send a route from Apple Maps or Google Maps to the Sygic app, although I've not yet found a way to do this using Siri.

Hopefully soon they'll integrate the new InControl Touch Pro like in the upcoming Jaguar XF...

But will it apply to existing owners if they have in control apps?

InControl Touch is an updated screen and car interface, so won't be retrofittable. The apps should be the same in that they should work on existing systems. Never say never though.
