Do original LR side steps offer door protection?

I was just wondering whether the fixed side steps besides the door protectors offer door protection... Anyone with experience of this? I am keen to protect doors as best I can in local railway station car park besides supermarkets... Have already picked up the tip to park in off-road height if steps are fitted!

Advice appreciated and any photos always good as pictures paint a thousand words...

What about the side protection strips in the RRS accessories? Anyone got them? They come needing paint so will be body coloured. MY16 SDV6 AB Dynamic Stealth
