I have gone for the fixed side steps... The motors we test drove had different specs so one with electric and other with fixed... The wife and kids found the steps useful so we knew we wanted them. I went for fixed as they may give a little protection in car parks from other car doors etc whereas the deployable would be tucked away when stationary..

The dealer has now advised that the canceled order has been spec amended and will be built end May and delivered 1st week of June! I now need to sell my XC90.. Will try and do this privately before part changing it in... Does anyone know best way to advertise and sell? auto trader, eBay advert, etc. any experience out there? What is the best way if getting paid when you do sell to ensure you end up with correct cash (not counterfeit), etc... All advice appreciated.

I've been thinking the same thing re payment for sale for later in the year Confused

Heard some stories / rumours even about electronic transfers being reversed - need to speak to RM at the bank on that but what have others done?

I sold mine through a luxury car dealer. They charged a set fee to sell and advertise the car on pistonheads, autotrader etc. They can also arrange finance and a warranty if required, so have a far better chance of selling.
Car was sold, and money transferred. No hassle for me at all.
You can even keep your car as they only arrange viewings by appointment so you don't have to leave it in the showroom if you don't want to.
If they don't sell it, nothing to pay at all.
If you're selling a luxury vehicle do you really all the security risks involved with people coming to your house for viewings etc?
I got what I wanted for it and found it a really easy process.

Guys common sense really - I have sold cars privately up to the value of £80k. There is really nothing to worry about if you do your homework properly. I have used Pistonheads and ebay. Auto trader brings up the most scammers IMHO.

You have your buyers name and address (ask for this beforehand to create a handover receipt and pre-fill in the V5 before collection day). Google the name - most people are on Facebook or Linkedin nowadays so not hard to find out about someone. Take payment by bank transfer only - this money should be coming from the account of the person going on your V5 doc - different name means alarm bells.

I once had a chap who wanted to pay me from his wife and son's account - I declined the sale. He then offered to bring £34k in cash to my house - I told him to meet me at the bank and pay the cash in to the bank in to my account - he did that and took the car away from the bank itself Smile

Hope this helps.....

Nice spec you got there!

Can these be combined? In our configurator (I know, it's not really a great tool) these can't be combined

What exactly is this? I haven't found a lot about that

As far as I am aware bank transfers cannot be reversed unless payment was made by fraudulent means and by following the steps I mentioned above you would have pretty much mitigated that risk Thumbs Up

Re: Done...

Hi Baco - I'm not sure what your question is regarding the spec... Can you let me know what you would like me to review... Thanks
