Keys locked in car?

Managed to lock my keys in the boot last week.
Watched the AA man get it open in about 5 mins with no damage at all and no special equipment.
Scary really.
Probably not the best idea to post how he did it Laughing 07 2.7HSE

I was impressed the other day when I pushed the button to close the boot lid and it closed, then opened again. Push the button. Close, then open. Was about to get to hammer out, then realised my key was in the coat pocket that I had placed in the boot.

Clever.

How did you lock the keys in the car. My RRS will not lock if the ignition keys are in the car, unless you lock it with the second set of keys. 2015 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SDV6

Rolling with laughter

Yeh the exact same happened to me a few weeks ago at Edinburgh airport when I got back from working in London, total nightmare. My keys were in laptop bag in boot, keyless entry to open boot, put in laptop bag and case, close boot. Indicators all flash.......WHAT. That sinking feeling that you suspect the car has locked itself again.

AA came out, no joy, LR assistance guy came out next morning and did the same as stated at top of post...... - it must be the only way, short of breaking a window.

Apparently LR assistance have tried to recreate this issue thousands of times on training etc by shutting people in the boot and cannot get it to happen so it's not a "fault" per se. It's just a random thing that can happen and unexplained......not ideal.

I got the battery replaced in keyfob just to be sure - but LR guy said it could have been interference from my laptop and the receiver under steering column maybe didn't pickup that the key was inside the vehicle. 2010 Autobiography - TDV6 - Santorini Black

Try putting the keys next to an electronic device right at the very entrance of the boot - as far away from steering column as possible. Probably still won't do it - like I say LR assistance tried to recreate and can't get it to happen....ever.

Design flaw if you ask me and LR should have stumped up the £100 I had to pay to stay overnight in the Hilton at the airport!!! Big Cry 2010 Autobiography - TDV6 - Santorini Black

I went to the tip last week, i turned the car off, leaving the keys in the ignition, I got out and shut the door, went to the boot and that wouldnt open, went back to the drivers door and.......................it was locked, all the doors where locked, ignition was on position 1 as the radio was playing. Then it hit me, my mobile was also in the car. So i had to wait for somebody else to arrive, persude them the car is mine, I can dress like a scruff ha ha, and ask them can I use their mobile to ring the wife at home to bring the spare set. This she did, however it wouldnt unlock the car so I had to use the key and enter from the passenger side. I wont be doing that again, good job it wasnt raining 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

Not sure if this is just an urban myth but the same issue was posted on the Disco forum a while back. Apparently, it is possible to phone SWMBO and stand close the car whilst getting her to press the unlock button on the spare fob over the phone. This allegedly has worked in the past but has got to be worth a try as a last resort before popping a window? MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
