Very hot dash top...

I touched the top on the dash this afternoon when the car had been sitting on the drive in the sun................. and it was so hot I thought I was going to be burned. Mine has Aspen coloured trim on the top of the dash and I was rather surprised that it got that hot. Would be interested to know if anybody has noticed how hot the ebony dash gets.
