Hi Olly

How did you get the 4x4 screen working without the head unit in ??

Here is my new pioneer but no top screen, I have steering wheel controls through the purchased harness but the red & green phone buttons & the speech button does not work though !,had to remove the speed pulse cable as this had the Satnav showing 46mph while parked in front of a wall, see picture Laughing
It is now working in hybrid mode = speed through the gps as additional purchase was required to fix this see below.

This was from pioneer......
Connects2 list a CAN IF for that vehicle with speed pulse automatically
generated. If this is being used then it's either a faulty CAN IF or a
fault sensor in the unit.

A company called Beijer Automotive from whom we get our speed pulse
information state that the issue can be caused by tapping into speed pulse
directly from the vehicle wiring speed pulse point and in some cases needs
one of these interfaces.

Automatic Pulse Interface 4

The basic way to keep the top screen/sat nav working, plus other functionality which goes via the head unit like being able to change temperature from C to F etc. is to relocate the head unit to the boot. This keeps its connectivity and allows these other functions to continue working.

I think if you are more technical you can use only the parts of the head unit required and not the full unit.

Personally I didn't think it worth doing the work to keep the top screen working and it has never really bothered me. If it did I think I'd try the tablet route.

I am hoping olly is going to tell us something different as I was aware of the head unit in the boot but just don't want to entertain that idea ! Range Rover Sport 2009 Stormer edition.

Looks neat. How much did the fitting cost and what did they use for the surround trim to fill the gap? 07 TDV8 + BAS map

First off order these
Your last ordersAll

Order nr. Order date Product Order status Total Amount

163388 9,56 £

162806 33,24 £
from http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/

You need to splice in to the original loom

with your old head unit you have to strip it down taking of the facia and the cd changer unit

theres a big space behind the heater controls to hide the old unit.

When I get home il get some pictures of how to do the optical link and the wiring diagram you will need to splice the power in and what pins connect to what speakers in the multi plug under the seat.

If you know what your doing its pretty straight forward, I used to be a car audio installer so wasn't to bad

When I get to the uk il get more pictures and and a detailed step by step guide, but if you order them optical bits they should arrive in time for when I post it up

here is how I seperated the head unit as per olly's picture.

Just awaiting the next steps & how to get the screen working although I only want the 4x4 info & not bothered about the sound through the speakers for the SarNav as I have that in my new head unit !

Hi first post and like Roy, love the car hate that stereo, I have a alpine ive-w585 bt double din ready to install, but do like the 4x4 info screen, so have ordered the bits and can't wait to see Ollly's guide, as it looks excellent with both screens working.
