Continental tyres (don't add water!)

My car is fitted with Continental 4x4 SportContact tyres! They are really good in the dry but if there is any water on the road, they weave around and aquaplane! They have always been like that but the situation is getting worse as the tyres wear! I'm looking to replace them all, size 275/40-20.

I want to stay with a road tyre rather than an A/T! I noticed that the 2 Sport's that I saw in the supermarket carpark this morning had Uniroyal RainSport 3 and Hankook Rh06 tyres on respectively! Can anyone recommend a tyre that is good on a wet road or am I always going to have a problem due to the width of the tyre?

Have you considered winter tyres? Reduced braking distance in the wet. Less chance of aquaplaning due to their tread pattern. Still road biased. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I have those Continentals, too, brand new. Down here we get on the average some 8-10 days of rain each year which is when I stay home and sip wine on the covered terrace.

A friend of mine, a serious Porsche freak claims the best tyres for SUV's are the new Michelin Latitudes, developed for the Porsche Macan. http://www.michelinman.com/tire-selector/c...re-details RRS SC 2011 for fun

I swapped the factory fitted Contis for Pirelli scorpion asimmetricos (after 3 yrs / 20k miles). I am thrilled with the Pirellis for noise, comfort and wet weather adhesion. They cannot compare with the Contis for dry weather handling but hey, it's a 2.7 tonne diesel so I am happy with the compromise. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

I ditched the contis early on my last rrs due to aquaplaning and near death experience hitting puddles - fitted scorpions and they came as standard on current rrs - wouldn't have contis if they were free Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I had conti sport contact 5 on my focus rs and they where brilliant in wet and dry! They over heated a little on a track day but that is to be expected. Very good tyre for the money in my opinion. Not as good as the Michelin PS3,s but they are In a differant price bracket.
It's strange how they can perform so well on a road car yet you all complain about them on a rrs.
