United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Winter season wheel change.

Hi all. New to this site. Bought my first rrs around 2 month ago and only just starting to play with it. Reason I bought it for, my girlfriend as she's expecting our first nipper and that's the safest car I could think of for them to drive around in. I have a 2.7 TDV6 with 22 overfinch. The wheels have my attention arm with the winter months coming. They are in pristine condition and I'd like to keep them that way. What would you recommend putting on for the cold roads? Also is only rr wheels that will fit or is there others.
Thank you in advance for your help.

No chance. She will be driving it most of the time so they'll be ruined Laughing

19 inch rims with 255/50 tyres will give you a deeper sidewall than 20 inch with 275/40 tyres. Usefully raises the rim slightly higher so less danger from kerbs - especially useful if the vehicle slides a bit against a kerb in icy conditions.

There might be more choice in 19in winter tyres too, but not sure. Second hand 19in rims might be cheaper than 20in rims too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

That's helpful information, thank you. Is there any other type of wheel that will fit straight on or is it purely LR wheels?

No idea what rims fit other than LR ones. As you need a high load capacity rim I'd be very careful using anything other than LR RRS rims unless you can ensure the load capacity. Some aftermarket rims will struggle with the weight of a RRS - especially if it's near to GVW. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi
Does anyone know what 19" wheels fit a 2007 RRS TDV8 with brembo breaks, I need to fit winter tires ready for a 5,000M round trip in Eastern Europe

I had these wheels fitted to my sport. Although my sport didn't have Brembo brakes, i do know that these wheels fit over Brembo's.

Hi Ady,
Thanks for this, will these make any diffrence to the spedo reading as I have 20" standard wheels on at the moment.
Do you know where I could get a cheapish set from, only bought my sport 9 days ago and its in the garage already having upper and lower ball joints, rear ARC bar, PAS pump and some other bits. £3k bill So I dont want to spend a fortune on wheels

Hi, I can tell you 19" wheels will not fit with brembos. I had 20" summer wheels and 19" winter. I had the brembos fitted after the purchase of the car. It was during the summer so didn't really think about the 19"s. Along came winter, off to the tire place with the 19"s in the boot. Back ones fitted fine, then found the guy trying really hard to force the front ones on.
I was confused for a while then realised the problem.

I now have a very nice set of winter tires and wheels sat in the garage while I look for 20" winter tires.

Regards.

I know nothing at all about brakes, but I thought I'd read on here that The OEM brakes were Brembos but just without the label. If 19inch won't fit does that mean the labels are very thick? Very Happy

Hi, 4 pot or 6 pot?
Not really sure. I ordered them from range rover and they fitted them. I know they changed the calipers, discs and back plates. The disks are much bigger so maybe 6 pot.
I didnt ask too many questions, just told them the original brakes were very bad and to get them changed out for something that was going to work. I spend a lot of time driving on mountain roads, lots of twists and turns.
Met some cows one morning and nearly had them sitting next to me in the passenger seat.

This is a 6 pot on a 21" Rim not a lot of room.

Cheers
