Hi all, New to the forum and RRS ownership. Been reading this topic with interest. My 2010 RRS 3.0 HSE blows some blue smoke on heavy acceleration (I don't notice it any other time) and wondered if cleaning out this MAP sensor might help. I had a go today but the sensor wouldn't come out after removing retaining screw. I'm probably being too timid not wanting to break the thing Embarassed Should it come out easily? Any help appreciated. Thumbs Up It's covered 68k btw.
Thanks.

Thanks for replies.

Eventually, got round to removing MAP sensor. Found it clean as a whistle Whistle

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the blue exhaust smoke (only when accelerating hard). I've had my RRS for a couple of months now and loving it but the smoke is annoying Crying or Very sad .

I'm up to some easy investigations but don't have facility or tools to "get stuck in" as it were Rolling Eyes

Thanks in advance for any hints, tips or help.

I want to check mine and clean as necessary and have looked at the disco3 forum but want to be sure I know what I am doing. From what I have read I take the oil filler cap off and then tug at the engine cover to remove it which gives me access to the MAP sensor.

Is this correct?

Just checked mine and it was filthy. Now cleaned and hopefully that might help towards my pretty bad MPG. Great heads up post BTW. Just the sort of thing one joins the Forum for. Thanks.

Forgot to mention my RRS is a 2011 HSE with only 26,000 miles on the clock so was surprised it was so caked up.

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

Folks,

after reading this thread and the corresponding one on the D3 site thought I'd check mine. I've got an '06 TDV6 with 58000 on the clock and it was completely bunged up! Sorry, didn't take any pics..... To be honest mine felt fine before but occasionally got a bit of hunting at idle, this seems to have fixed that so far!

Is it worth blanking my EGR's even if they are working fine at the moment?

Cheers, Jem.

When Betsy was getting her remap the guy doing it cleaned mine out, and it was FULL of Censored .

Since the remap ive had a terraclean, egr blank, and a soft reset if the gearbox, and a new Air Flow Meter fitted. Only had her about 4 weeks and the drive is so different! Gears are smooth and for a 2.7 she is rapid. I'm very jealous of the SC owners now, as the drive must be amazing. Betsy is only 2.7 but is rapid now, and I'm starting to have a bit of fun with her!

Id blank the EGR's, lots of recommendations 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Wee update..
Been keeping an eye exhaust smoke over passed months and seems to have disappeared under hard acceleration Thumbs Up Don't know why but all seems well. Maybe needed time to clear out accumulated soot/crud/whatever??
Haven't done anything but have been on M8 a lot in recent weeks/months maybe that helped..
This is a cracking RRS forum guys.. really glad I joined up. Hints and tips and other info very helpful.
Cheers.

Heres my Map sensor from todays clean. No problems before, just thought I'd check it anyway. It was a bit groggy but haven't noticed many more MPG's or anything than some people report on.

I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.
