Silly not to IMHO. Many complain about the 'slow' and 'out-dated' infotainment system. Apps is a way to update this.

So far, I have chosen not to specify it because the two users I know who have it on their Evoque are not impressed. More specifically, Apple have proposed their own standards for integration and it's not clear how compatible this will be with the LR offering; LR users risk being left high and dry by the relentless march of Apple technology (I feel sure we will see more of it tomorrow). What's really needed is for car infotainment systems to be open access so that you buy the hardware, can upgrade as and when, and then have a selection of platforms (Apple, Android, Windows Mobile) to run on it with full App support. Mark

Yes, JLR have signed up to Car Play, but at the moment Apps is the only option. You stand more chance of JLR revising Apps in the future to make it Car Play (if it isn't already) than them offering a field upgrade to a non Apps car in the future.

Phil, what's the connectivity between the phone and the car - Bluetooth or wi-fi?

Your comment about the infotainment system - does InControl apps give iPhone apps access to the car's hardware, for example the ability to change the volume? I thought it was nothing more than replication the touch screen interface on the central display; the phone apps continue to run on the phone itself. Mark

USB (there's a dedicated InControl connector).

The apps are running on the phone and displayed on the screen, which provides touch, pinch zoom, scroll whatever. Both iPhone and Android software interface stack so similar apps will appear on both platforms.
