Oman 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange
Navigation DVD and Navigation DVD 'player'

Does anybody know where I ca n get a cheap LR Navigation DVD for the Middle East.

The original one I bought from LR back in 2009 has given up the ghost and I stupidly never made a back-up. Now trying to copy the DVD using an .iso image file works, but the DVD is still corrupt and I get the please insert Navigation DVD error message on the screen.

I know LR still offer the DVDs but I'm loathed to pay Euro289 for a DVD with 2009/10 maps on it!!! Especially as I only want the DVD for completeness as and when I sell the car.

Thanks in advance.

Npinks, apologies I was under the impression the Navteq license permitted a single back-up for personal use.

Nonetheless, this is now irrelevant as I have just tried my friend's OEM Wink Nav DVD in my system and I get the same error message stating the DVD is not a Navigation DVD, please insert a Nav DVD...

I then tried my OEM DVD (scratched to hell) which I thought was busted in his Sport and the system automatically updated Rolling Eyes

So based on this I presume my Navigation DVD System is Censored .... Looking on the web it costs USD 400 to get a replacement so really not worth it.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix the DVD player itself??

Cheers

SRE,

Completely off topic, however checking Navteq T&Cs, which are in fact "HERE" T&Cs which are Nokia T&Cs because Nokia bought Navteq and created "HERE" the owner of a legally purchased Navigation software (DVD, download etc) may make 1 copy for archival purposes.

This is found here:

http://here.com/terms/?lang=en-US

And the phrase is:

"You may not copy the Software, except to make a single archival backup copy"

Music and film industry need to catch up, however, whats interesting is that media purchased via Amazon may be downloaded to numerous devices which the article you posted implies is not legal... at least that's the case with books, and films, not sure about music.

Cheers
