Mega flush review !

Firstly, thanks to disco mikey for his advice and recommendations regarding the mega flush !

As some maybe aware, I've had my RRS gearbox oil mega flush done this morning by Quattro Autocare in Riccall York. Initially I'd like to say that the guys there were excellent. Very professional, helpful and full of knowledge.

They did the mega flush within the hour, reset the adaptive gearbox thingy majig, and I had the latest software update. They also lubricated the gear selector summat or other while it was on the ramp. I must say, I'd not even pulled off the forecourt and I'd noticed a difference with how it engaged gear. The drive home was totally different to the drive there. Gear changes were silky smooth, it didn't clunk into gear and it changed gear at the exact time I wanted it to.

RE the old oil, it was black as the ace of spades, comparing it with the new, the mega flush change is a no brainer. How anyone can leave it is amazing. ZF apparently recommend it's changed at 75k so with mine havin 114k it's long overdue and you could tell. At least now I have peace of mind and the cost of the mega flush massively out weighs the cost of a gearbox recon.

All in all, I'm very happy I've had it done and once again huge thanks to disco mikey for his advice and huge thanks to the guys at Quattro Autocare I can't recommend them enough !!! Thumbs Up

Sounds well worth it. When I've tried to find somewhere to get this done nobody down south does it!! The garages all seem to be up north unless of course somebody out there can tell me otherwise?

All done within the hour?

I would be checking the gearbox oil level when it has cooled down...

The gearbox oil takes 3.5 hours to cool down to the correct temperature (if it was fully hot), to allow it to be checked accurately...

That is why I go to my customers when flushing Wink

The silence is deafening.

For reference:

Quote:
1) The transmission fluid temperature must be between 30°C and 35°C before checking can begin.
Use test equipment to determine the trans temperature.

Quote:
2) If the transmission temperature rises above 50°C during the fluid level checking procedure the resulting
oil level wil be to low. Let the transmission cool down and repeat the fluid level procedure

So, how long does it take for the gearbox (which will likely be at it's full operating temp of 80+ degrees) to cool down to 30-35 degrees? I can assure you, it is longer than 1 hour
