Flintoff & Speeding

I see that Mr Flintoff has escaped a ban for 87mph on the motorway to avoid him suffering exceptional hardship Rolling with laughter .

Generally, the myth is that you have a margin of 10% plus 2mph but what's the closest you've been to the applicable speed limit and still got a ticket?

52 in a temporary 40 zone (reduced from 60) was the "closest" for me. Other than that only ever had one speeding ticket but way too high to mention here Embarassed

Had two tickets in total but nothing for nearly 20 years - the first was 42 in a 30 when I was young, second was 84 in a 60 when I was "a bit older". Standard "fine and producer" for both.

I doubt you'd get a ban for 87 on a motorway anyway. Hit 100mph and you'll be walking for a few weeks. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Got caught once doing 10kph over the posted limit on the motorway in Belgium.

£187 later and I could drive away.

If I did not pay they would have stranded me at the side of the motorway, impounded my car until the following morning. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)
