Hi all, i noticed this hanging from the drivers side rear wheel of my dads 2005 hse. I cant see anywhere for it to go. There are no faults showing, everything appears good. Does anyone know what it is or for and where should it go.

Looks like brakepad wear sensor

I agree, definitly a brake wear sensor it should be attached to the brake pad...... Take a look at another wheel for thr location, but don't be pulling at them as they are easily damaged, could be why this one is hanging loose.  2010 RRS, TDV8

It has had new discs and pads in the last few months. The pads were mintex, maybe they dont come with wear sensors in them.

Thanks for the replys, i will fasten it up out of the way for now, as i will be taking it on a run to minehead. It hasnt been used for 8 weeks as my dad broke his hip and hasnt drove it. I thought the run would do it good, but was a bit concerned when i saw this. I know the brake pads are good and i can get it sorted when i get back.

If (my poor memory) serves me right, the wear sensor clips into a half round cutout in the top edge of the pad backing plate... You would have to look to see If its there. Can be difficult to spot If everything is caked in crud. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I have come back now, will get to it tomorrow. I am confident nothing else was wrong, as i have known the garage that done it for years, and i do trust them. Also i dont recall seeing anything hanging down just after the brakes were done, so i think it may have been caught on something.
On the plus side car ran perfectly on our trip, and was very comfortable to drive. On the negative side my wife found the passenger front seat had no adjustment on the front of the seat base, which made it very uncomfortable for her.

As long as you had a comfy ride that's all that matters!  2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

From where i was sitting it was very comfortable, and the kids loved having the dvd players in the headrests. Everything is done now, next thing is the mot at the end of August.
