TPMS Fault

Got a message up yesterday.

TPMS fault .... Tyres seem just fine no change in pressures.

Is this a dealer visit or will it correct itself?

Mine cleared itself after a "reboot" (off, then on again).

Had this message too, it looks like a common fault. Contacted LR assist and advised to check the tyre pressures and contact the dealer. It seems to have cleared itself as the pressures are fine, but is will get the dealer to check. Thumbs Up

Thanks everyone.

I am in C London until Thursday but hopefully a decent run at the weekend will help it reset itself. MY2010 TDV8 purchased Jan 2017

Hi Peter,

If you have manually checked the pressures and they are ok then then there must be an issue. It could be that one of the sensors has transmitted an incorrect value which has caused the message.

If a restart doesn't fix the issue then, with the ignition on but engine not running, select TPMS from the Service menu and select the opposite setting to what it is currently set at (light or heavy), run the engine for a short while and then switch it back to the correct setting before driving the car.

It may be that you had the setting as light but had the car heavily loaded or vice versa as this will as you can appreciate could flag up pressure warning. EG if it the pressures are at the lower limit, and you have it set for heavy load, and the car was in actual fact lightly loaded, and the ambient temp was low then it could dip under what is required for a heavy load. Also, remember that the spare wheel is also TPMS linked just in case you've not checked the pressure.

If all else fails then let us know and we will plug it in! Apart from that, I hope that you are enjoying (what was) DHG?

James thanks for that helpful reply.

In fact when the message appeared I had more weight in the car than usual and moving over cobbled roads.

So your comments about light load v heavy load resonated with me.

I will try the procedure that you have suggested to see if that resolves the issue. When I checked yesterday all the tyres were at the correct pressures. MY2010 TDV8 purchased Jan 2017

Following the procedure suggested by James resolved the problem I had last week.

This week I took the 22" wheels off and replaced them with 20" style 12 wheels which had TPMS vales still fitted.

So far (fingers crossed) it appears the new wheels have been welcomed by the TPMS system and I have not had any dashboard error messages. MY2010 TDV8 purchased Jan 2017

So one week one with the new 20" wheels and they seem to have fully paired with the cars TPMS system and are now giving me what look like sensible readings from each wheel on the dashboard screen. MY2010 TDV8 purchased Jan 2017
