Australia 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Santorini Black
New Owner, and a few questions

Hi Guys

I am a first time owner of a 2012 RRS which i picked up about a month ago.

Had an x5 years ago, and don't miss it !

its the TT v6 diesel luxury pack, with roof and reverse camera options as well as tints and mats.

the car came with 28000km on it, one owner and full logbooks etc...general condition is 8.5/10 but i have noticed a few things over the last few weeks and i am am about to book it in to be looked at because i am worried it may start to cause grief.

if anyone has any advice on the following, it will be valued;

1. Stereo controls on the steering wheel do not always respond- is this a common problem?

2. Sometimes when I start the car, it (the computer( says its raising the suspension but its not and i have not pressed the button to do so. is this a common problem or anything to worry bout?

3. I cant get the mirrors to fold in ( they tried to tell me this was an option) and some twit has already clipped the drivers one ( ever so slightly). I don't want to end up with a mirror torn off by someone in a car park. From what i have read this should work when you hold both buttons down (L+R) on the mirror controls ...but it doesn't work.

4. no front parking sensors - which redbook says are standard in the luxury pack

everything else seems fine and these things are all electrical....Dont get me wrong i love my new car, it drives great, is easy on the fuel ( when i behave) and is one of those car a man just wants to drive. I just want to do what i can to keep it well maintained and deal with any issues that do pop up correctly.

been lurking for here for the last month but only just signed up, great forum and thanks in advance for your advice.

Steve.

Look up your VIN on Land Rover Topix (an LR web site) and you should be able to check what options were fitted/specified in the new vehicle build from LR.
Otherwise ask the dealer for the Topix printout for your VIN number.
It also tells you about any recalls for your VIN.
I also have an X5 and prefer the Sport!

Re your question on folding mirrors, mine are electrically adjustable and heated but no auto fold.
In a tight spot I just hop out and manually fold back, a pain but the only way.

thanks a bunch guys, all my questions are answered and i will drop it off for a 6 month service check on Monday so they can check the breaks and fix the ICE issues etc... I will see if they can retro fit that folding mirror option when i am there because the last time i lost a mirror it was something obscene to replace it and I don't want to be in that position again.

Steve,
I should have added that a problem with the LR drivers handbook is that it covers all options without disclosing which ones may not be fitted to your vehicle, can be very confusing when they tell you to push button X and you find it doesn't exist on your vehicle or else doesn't carry out the function described.
I got used to this when I first got my Discovery 3 a few years ago.

well got it serviced today and was only charged for new break pads.

they did replace some sort of coupler behind the steering wheel column which they said was the root cause of the ICE issues but its still got factory cover so its all good. they said its a known issue with that year model.

I did ask for a price on getting the mirrors upgraded to auto fold in but they said its a factory only option Sad

thanks again for the advice.

Australia

Why did you need brake pads - I guess you only have about 35,000km or less on it by now so these should not have needed replacement.

Yep - I got my car with 38,000km and at each service, standard advice was pads and disks need replacing - I replaced the pads at 70,000km and they were only 2/3 worn and the disks were only 1/3 worn and they stayed on.

They tell porkies all the time. 07MY RRS TDV6

thats the last cent they see from me then.

I was under the impression these things can and do chew breaks but what you are telling me is they are good for a very long time......so i assumed he was telling me the truth but now i am not so sure.

Steve,
A lot depends on how hard it was driven before you got it!

of the Blue Mountains near Lithgow, Lake Lyell to be precise, JimmySalsa and myself are there, as well as a
horde of D3/4 owners, check out the aulro.com D3/D4/RRS forum. Interested ? like to see what our vehicle is
