Hmm.. interesting that the SDV6 is almost as heavy as official figure for SDV8...

Wonder what is the real wight then for the SDV8 Smile

The max laden weight of the Sdv8 is 200kgs more that Sdv6. Both these will be AB spec cars with all the toys.

The max weight is just that, so the heaviest V6 against the heaviest V8. So same trim just diff engine.

I know the official figures can be taken with a pinch of salt but if Tboner's 2013/14 V6 weights that I reckon the V8 AB will be a couple hundred kgs more.

Just need a V8 SC and SDV8 to get on the scales now.

Im not shocked really , remember they will quote with no fuel , but also the base model stripped with no options.

i will get my SDV8 on the bridge at some stage this week 2014 5.0SC AB

Even with the older models in the test i have seen the v8 had a minute advantage in gear and 4 mph more top speed. I do not believe that the v8 is much quicker what so ever, in fack the tdv6 11mdl is quicker off the line.
Then if the sdv8 weights more and is more nose heavy as renaco sugests also the perfomance will be closer.

Wrong sorry, just like the facts not the bull s*&^
And having both cars i am in a position to give the truth on the get up and go in the real world.
As for nose heavy i do not mess about and if as the numbers suggest its about 70 kilos on the mid axle point does anyone really think that makes a dynamic change to corner entry ! its a RR not a MP4-12C 2014 5.0SC AB

The previous TDV8 was quicker in certain in-gear situations than the S/C according to some reports I read at the time. And having driven a MY12 TDV6 back-to-back with my MY08 TDV8 I can say that there was a noticeable difference in gear and especially when overtaking. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

You are the real V8 Diesel Guy... Wink, Its Fun to discuss about with you.

I really respect your opinion. I drive 50.000 km per year my Range, and long distances with speed from Hamburg to Munich, so there is for me such a big difference in the cars balance, additional in wet conditions that i never want an actual V8 Diesel RRS for me.

But please enjoy your much higher V8 power and sound, and I keep enjoying the ride of my SDV6 until my RRS SDV6 Hybrid arrives.

Hope i can deliver figures of the Engines soon, but at the Moment other projects are blockig my Time... ;-(

I never list my cars but some on the forum know what i have , and i have a few RR LR cars love them ( well most of the time ! ) that together with my OCD give me a reasonable insight into the cars.

So only 88kg difference between real RRSs rather than "marketing RRSs". 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes, it really looks the SDV8 would have better power to wight ratio than the SDV6.

So Sdv8 is 141 per ton.

So Sdv6 is 127 per ton.

I mild remap to 325 on the v6 gives the same 141 per ton as the v8. But would void the warranty if you have issues. But then so would/could any mod.

Good to get the weights to do the calcs.

Agree with that and the SC will blow them all away.

Mpg Tboner has said in real terms the V6 and V8 are much closer than the raw figure show.

So what are we left with?

Less than 100kgs more for the V8.

Some? Thousand pounds less for the V6.

No V8 sound if you get the V6.
The V6 is very quiet and that does not help the feeling of acceleration.

Possible wider power range on the V6.

Make your choice my new friends

TDV8 was not an option when I ordered mine.
