They really don't want the Land Rover name to disappear do they? So that's 4 wheel centre caps to add to my shopping list. Mark

Not too sure where all this confusion comes from? Land Rover make different models and call them different names.

It's no different to any other vehicle manufacturer.

Chris, I'm with you on this.
Whenever I'm talking cars I always say 'Land Rover' when asked what I drive. If I'm then asked what model I tell them Range Rover Sport.
As you say, Simple! Thumbs Up

It's just all the swap back again to the Land Rover brand , so they can get ready for the 2015-16 MY changes when the whole brand changes to " Tata "

So we will have the

Tata Sport
Tata Big one
Tata Discovery
Tata Freelander
Tata ETC

Twisted Evil 2014 5.0SC AB

Gone 5.0 SC

I'm not going to lose sleep over it Chris but just seems like confused marketing/design to me.
For instance, why do the lights under the wing mirrors project Range Rover graphics and not Land Rover?

There is a reason why you get Land Rover and Range Rover and the move back to Land Rover.

Firstly - they are all Land Rovers.

Years ago, a decision was taken to split the Land Rovers into Land Rover and Range Rover as two distinct products within the brand there were a number of reasons for this - namely the increase of models and the image of RR v LR. Remember the use of the black LR badge

The move is to move them all within the family of "Land Rover" (being part of JLR), so you get Discovery, Range Rover etc...but they are still Land Rovers. Which is why you have started to see the Land Rover wording going off the bonnet.

What seems chop and change to you/us - isn't, its actually because all the vehicles are at different stages in their development/modification cycle so it not only takes time, but some massive logisitics to get new bonnet lettering for cars or updated firmware etc. Then to coordinate that across the dealer network.

So actually there are reasons behind it...its just takes time and is complicated. Mike

in 2010 all dealers were made to start doing work in the showrooms to split the brands.

In early 2013 this decision changed again by Tata to take all the cars back under the " land Rover " brand which is what they are.

so why should they not be

Land Rover Freelander
Land Rover Sport
Land Rover Range Rover
Etc Etc

Then it all would make sense , however they seem to be stuck with certain cars that they introduced the Range Rover Branding to like the Sport and Ecock Embarassed 2014 5.0SC AB

Gone 5.0 SC

It will be the Range Rover Family (FFRR, Sport and Baby), Discovery Family (Disco, Baby etc) and possibly the defender family

All of which they were very open with - it was in the LR press, not that I read that. Mike
