Apple CarPlay

I am sure everyone has been following the Apple CarPlay announcements and that whilst not in the first wave of adopters, Jaguar Land Rover are on the list. At a stroke this has the potential to upgrade clunky infotainment systems though presumably it wont solve the clunky touch screen. Best of all it appears that aftermarket solutions are also possible - see below

Although I am very big Apple fan, but not too enthusiastic boot this. Sad

As I can see, for my region t least, Apple Maps are quite poor in coverage? Lots of major streets are missing.
So what is the point? Tweet from the car or use Facebook? Shocked

I think that Apple to car is a little old hat....
BMW had a great system and apps that worked amazing. The 7 series was fully loaded with all sorts of google to car new and app downloads to screen.

However, what would be interesting to see would be Apple on car technology. When I went to Tesla HQ I was lucky enough to see the Roadster S with apple on car tech. To see you open your car door with finger print technology (swipe open like the iphone). that was impressive. You start the car with a passcode so much amazing technology.

So the idea that we now have an interface in the car. Big deal (show us something new and exciting )
