Yellow SUSPENSION LIGHT

Hi All

have a 2006 range rover sport 2.7 hse model, and have had it for over 7 months and running fine. Lately the battery died and had to have it replaced, since replacing the yellow suspension light comes on (vehicle with two arrows on either side) and then says something like "suspension fault", so basically cannot be adjusted whilst driving.

Once car is switched off and then back on again you can move the suspension up or down without a problem, the error sign comes on after a few minutes driving or idle.

Does the suspension require reset or something with diagnostic tool as the suspension works fine ???


Any help would be appreciated.

if the car going is up and down ok with any errors at first it seems the pump is ok though people say 60000 miles is when most fail. try a hard reset as youve changed the battery. Reset, touch the two battery terminals together for a minute. if still comes on im afraid it to the garage to get it plugged in. maybe its getting tried and needs replacing. Drive in and out for £450 at a good indy garage.

I am sure you mean the battery leads and not the terminals as this would fix more than his suspension Shocked

So remove the positive and negative from the battery and then touch together for few minutes?

Also will both leads long enough to be against each other?

Was advised to plug computer to the Rr and have it reset that way

Forgot to mention that sometimes when you try to put the vehicle in access mode (lowered) the vehicle will raise up automatically to extended mode.

Yes join both leads together with a socket bar or big screw driver for about 1 min .. Plugging in a PC will not do a hard reset.

I did replace the battery that i purchased brand new from auto parts store , the original battery is 950 MHA or something like that, but this one is 850. Would that make any impact on the error ?

I'd say that your pump needs replacing. If it works initially and then the fault appears, the pump is probably over heating. Once you've stopped and let it cool down, then it works again - for a while, until it overheats again. Same thing has just happened to mine  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

Prefer RR Vouge S/C but they don't do Orange !

Is there a repair kit available to bring compressor back to normal instead of replacing the whole unit.

You can buy a new valve kit and piston. £75. Rimmer bros and bayer.

Yes there is a kit to overhaul the pump but the problem is that when you try to strip it down to replace the parts you end up snapping and stripping the threads so end up buying a new pump..

Before i buy compressor and replace it, i think better to do a diagnostic check just in case something else flagging up the error. I may even also purchase a diagnostic machine for future use. Any decent machines out there that can do most of the cars in the market, not just basic engine read but many other resets inc checking suspension faults etc.

I use a hawk eye tool. Very useful and has saved me money.
