Towing with Spacesaver Spare

After reading a post on caravan forum claiming some manufacturers do not recommend towing with spacesaver wheel I am hoping someone here can clarify the RRS position Shocked

MY10 I got rid of had a beefy !9" black wheel that had a warning sticker but looked up to the job - New MY13 I have now has a slim wheel that looks Censored

Is it suitable for towing Confused

Concerned that if I have a blow out with my big twin axle weighing nearly 2 tonne on a Sunday or evening I may be pitching on the hard shoulder until tyre workshop opens Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I manage a holiday park so I do see every type of caravan/car combo, last week had a chap with a blow out on the A30 and he called the AA they told him no problem with using a space saver as its only speed related, he had a BMW estate and a twin wheel base caravan.
He got home with no problems and drove 200 miles on it. Thumbs Up TDV8 2007 window tints, side steps.

I'd be more concerned about what your insurance company say on the matter.

Provided you inform them you have added a towbar not sure how this is an issue - the spare should be capable of towing or if not should be upgraded if you specify a towbar IMHO Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Your right muddywheels, the only rule Landrover makes is your speed is limited to 50mph when towing when using the provided spare wheel. So should not concern the insurance company unless their policy states otherwise.

IMHO 200 miles on a spacesaver is pushing it a bit! I thought they were only a stop gap to get you to the nearest garage/tyre fitting depot Shocked MY2007 RRS TDV8 Black - tinted glass - side steps- stormer grille - 20" diamond cut alloys - alpaca leather - TV/DVD pack - some blingy chrome bits & bob's

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/safet...heels.html 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
