I have a problem.

The cable that picks up the loom and feed to the back of the GVIF seams to be faulty (at the LR end of the cable)

Is the wiring of this plug simple? Or can a replacement be located?

I've spoken to HIDS4U and the new design has a Y cable with a single 6 connector plug, whereas mine has the older twin cables with 3 pins on each. RRS gone

Bodsy,

I'd really like the reversing camera and happy to travel up to your neck of the woods - would you be able to provide a price to supply and install a solution (and any other goodies you think a 2009 RRS 2.7TDV6 might need)?

Cheers,

hi,
looks like there are a few great minds on this thread. i'm about to buy a gvif unit but Bodsy, you write that for the reverse camera function to work you must be on the satnav screen. i'm rarely on that screen, usually on the home screen in fact or using the rear entertainment system for the kiddy.
i see you guys have been discussing various work arounds so question is, will it be possible to use the reverse camera function regardless of what screen im in ?
i'm living in devon and not so keen on having to drive hundreds of miles to get this done. is it a simple job (given i have clear instructions, dont mind paying for assistance Mr. Green )?

@tanloverluke

When you use a Gvif unit you must be on the map screen to see the reversing camera image when selecting reverse as its an overlay of the map screen, you could use one of the other AV in's but you would need to select the av that you connected the rear view camera to so you can see the image.

thanks for that. i see on the gvif unit that there is a dedicated reverse camera input cable. are you saying then that if i select one of the other 3 av inputs that the image will appear regardless of what screen im in.

there was me thinking that the reverse camera function "took over" the screen until reverse was deselected Sad Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Bodsy,

Out of interest how much do you charge to fit a reversing cam and GVIF?

I have just bought my first RRS and would like to have this done.

Regards
