RRS and a Boeing 747

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on the site.
Interesting use of a retired airframe at Kemble.

If they spent less on stupid stuff like that, they could charge less for the vehicle! Marketing man's wet dream, nothing more. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

That could be said about anything that we buy that is advertised.

True, but when you're selling a few thousand of an item compared to several hundred million items, the cost wasted per unit is much bigger.

If Coca Cola spend a few grand advertising soft drink and then sell an extra 100million cans that year then you've not covered much of the cost per unit sold. If LR sell a few thousand RRS and throw tens of grand at an advert (that won't even be seen by many people as in the case of this 747 silliness) to sell a few dozen more then the cost per unit is significant.

And the soft drink will be 100% reliable too... Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

If you've been given a budget you'll spend it - that's a Market Department for you - Like almost ever 'central' overhead business unit; cause next year you may be asked to use less.

In my business experience you can bet your life that no Marketing manager will ever tell you how he/she could reduce their budget
