Water drip from interior light panel ??

After some hard conerning and braking, i have noticed a drip of water from the front of the interior light panel above the centre console !

I have removed the panel and could not find any evidenceof water leakage around the unit, but it must be coming from somewhere ?

The sunroof waterways seem to be clear and there does not seem to be any water build up, its not raining now but has been.. carpets are all dry too

Any ideas anyone ? Why?.. Because i can....

Probably scared the pCensoreds out of your interior lights by all that hard cornering and braking?

Sorry for the useless reply, couldn't resist. But on a more serious note I am sure someone with a sunroof will soon be along to help you Thumbs Up

Monty - this screams sunroof drainage issue, but it could also be water getting in around the GPS aerial? Is it loose? Has it been sprayed with a pressure washer?

Have you checked all 4 corners of the sunroof for proper drainage?

Ive had another quick look and cannot see any blockages in the sunroof by pouring water into the channels..

i will look for the other ends of the drain pipes and ensure they are clean, am i right in thinking theres 1each behind the grilles in the wings?

I'll also remove the panel from the ceiling and see if i can get a better idea of where its coming from..

Its been sitting a few days ober new year so hopefully i will see if any more water has collected ! Why?.. Because i can....

Sounds very much like sunroof drain pipes...the best bet is not to pour water down them, its likely to not work - you need to fire some compressed air down up (probably) or down them

you will have one each side - usually at the base of the car - but i have no idea where they are on the sport

The GPS is at the back, so i wouldnt think its that

Also check the seal is clean and seated properly Mike

Rather than a compressor, some of that 'netting curtain' wire is excellent for gently pushing down the drain tubes to clear them out. Bodsys Brake Bible

Don't forget there are drain tubes that go to the rear of the car also. Be careful pushing wire or using high pressure as there is a 90° elbow in the tubes in the A pillars which could cause leaks in other places if its pulled off.

Have a look in the definitive how to thread as there is a guide on checking the sunroof. The ends of the pipes behind the side vent grilles in the wing have crimped ends so get clogged up. Take a closer look before blasting it.

Had the front grilles out and only found a very small amount of muck, water flow was same before and after.

SWMBO wasnt too impressed finding me using her pyrex jug to pour water down the channels... next up the rears !

Found nothing behind the passenger grill, should it not have a rubber jacket or liner behind it ??? ... I can get to the drain plug through the grille. ( i have aftermarket grilles) Why?.. Because i can....

Have a read of the whole thread I linked above...tells you everything you need to know. Rolling Eyes

I believe the passenger side is behind the wheel arch somewhere.
