Parkbrake warning light - Question

I've just noticed that the red parkbrake light stays illuminated for 3 minutes after the ignition is switched off, even if you get out and lock the door. I can't remember seeing this before (I only picked my car up Friday). I don't get any warning messages, but I can't find any reference to it in the handbook, it just says that if the red parkbrake warning light flashes, take it to the dealers to get it sorted.
Is this normal?

Many thanks.

Mine does so sporadically, so haven't bothered to get it redressed. Put it down to annoying-but-livable with gremlins. Rolling Eyes RRS 2.7TDV6 HSE Java Black, Sun Roof, Tasmod Sills

It's normal, shows the system is still 'awake'. If you ever need to disconnect the battery for some reason or other make sure you wait for that light to go out before you do.

In a similar vain you may also notice if you unlock the car but don't put the key in the ignition before locking it again that the satnav screen stays on for ages too
