United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Java Black

thanks for your help guys, I've managed to finally get insurance for 1800 with ESI-Insure (on moneysupermarket) after calling them up and saying I want to add 22" wheels to the vehicle I'm about to buy. They agreed not to increase the premium but said it wont cover the wheels - ie in case of claim they'd only cover the standard wheels. Also the excess is a steep 3k, but all in all a terrific outcome! For comparison a 1.6L vauxhall astra my gf was driving cost her 2k per year to insure, and that included a black box inside the car tracking your driving behavior Smile

To be fair Jonny, you're driving around in a pretty much new A/B, so I'm sure you can lay your hands on the excess if you did need to Wink
I would be more concerned by the OP, that a) the car is circa £20k (I'm guessing here) and b) he's already balked at the £4k cost of insurance.

I can come up with the 3k in case of an emergency, but paying 4k a year for the wheels alone just seemed unfair, I'd rather exchange for a standard vehicle in that case. The 3k excess is standard for me irrespective of the mods anyway.

Didn't want a newer model just yet for various reasons - its my first car, I'm not sure how long I'll stay in the UK, want my gf to drive without worrying too much about scratches, etc.

Will prob get a new one in a year or two once we've got at least 1 no claims bonus, etc.

PS For vehicles over £30k the cheapest insurance by far was Chubb (have to phone em, they're not on comparison sites), give it a go if you're young and have a newer model.
