Gap Insurance

Has anyone used these https://www.directgap.co.uk/Quote.aspx?vc=&cl=25000&trm=1
Question Is it worth getting gap insurance upto 4 years as the most they will pay out is £25k, Confused so on a range rover sport i guess you are still going to get a shortfall of the RTI if you had a claim 38 to 48 months later the way a range rover sport depreciates, i know 25k is better than not having any Shocked gap insurance at all, whats your thoughts or have i just answered my own question Embarassed

I took the view that any money back, was better than nothing Thumbs Up
I did RTI over 4 years, think it was a similar amount, circa £190.
Mine was via MHC and KAM on here. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

^^^ I don't doubt that Ady, when I first looked, the quote was at that level, then when I finally got around to buying the policy it had dropped by about £50, apparently market forces acording to James at MHC. One of the few times that my laziness has saved me money Laughing

One point to note, check your car insurance policy as some have RTI built into them for the first 6 months/year (mine doesn't Crying or Very sad ) if you do, MHC allow you to defer the policy until that period is up. Worth checking Thumbs Up

...I see that Kams website www.gapinsuranceuk.net is down at the moment, I've sent them an email ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Yes, I'm with direct line and have the 'market value' text too.
I phoned the for clarification (fully knowing the answer) and was told in no uncertain terms that they would not be paying out the invoice value in the event of a total loss claim.

I dealt with James there James@Mhasnain.co.uk if you want to email them Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I must admit that I never usually take up any of the bolt on offers that car dealers try to get you to buy. However I have taken the Gap Insurance for a 3 year period. When you take into account that you loose 20% of the cars value (VAT) as soon as you drive away from the show room its a no brainer......

^^^ Agreed, just don't buy it via a dealer, independent companies (such as those linked above) offer a much better deal Thumbs Up
Edit: If you've done it through a dealer Jim, just make sure you're happy with the price. I was quoted around the £500 from a dealer and endued up paying under £200 from an independent Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Seems a little racey to be honest Jim.
If you follow this link they are quoting £260 for a 3 year policy.
I have to ask, why not leave this one, surely most damage would be covered under your usual insurance policy, no?
Obviously you would have an excess, but I can't quite see the point of Scratch and Dent insurance.
I'd say:
Gap - Yes, definitly Thumbs Up (for £190 for a 4 year policy that pays up to £25k, its a no brainer)
Tyre - Probably Confused (depends where you live, how you drive, now many miles etc)
Scratch and Dent - Probably not Sad ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

If you can cancel with the dealer, I definitely would, seems daft to put £250 additional into their pocket for nothing.
Just to note, I've not used the company above I linked, but it gives you an indicitive price.
I got mine through www.gapinsuranceuk.net (the chap Kam is a member on here) but their site is currently down Confused

Yep...I just have.

I was quoted £400 for £20,000 and 3 years cover on gap insurance and a massive £500 for dent & scratch insurance.

By following the link on this thread I have been offered £25,000 and 3 years gap cover for £248 and dent & scratch for £260

I'll wait until your buddies site is up Beancounter and see what he can offer.

Have just been told that my car has been built and that the dealer is expecting it any day now.

Jim
