2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Buckingham Blue

My RRS HSE is a 4.4L naturally aspirated V8

get the same loud sound that tears my heart apart! tried to explain it later but couldnt put it in the right words!
its really annoying and makes me always hesitant taking off at low speeds after braking, i doubt our local stealers will fix it here, stuck with it i guess, disappointing indeed..
feels like an american ford bronco or something! still the RRS though

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Just joined the forum, wish I had a couple of months ago!
To add to this I have a 4 day old (in my hands) TDV6 HSE and yes I have the same problem, driveline shunt, lovely knocking as we drive around the country lanes here in deepest Somerset....will be speaking to the dealer tomorrow....had the same problems with the 4.2 S/C dealer assured me about the fix on the knocking from front suspension "all cured" he said...pah!

Seat rocking......

ChrisP, I had the issue where my seat 'rocked' when braking or accelerating - mine's a RRS TDV8 HSE MY08 - took it back to the dealer within first three months (twice) with this, second time they replaced the seat and since then no more rocking or seat movement. They had replaced the whole seat mounting but said they hadn't seen this before! If in warranty I'd get it back to the dealer!
Cheers, Colin

I love these forums!

I have this problem too, and am desperate to find the solution - its great to know however that I am not going mad and imagining it.

The jolt is horrible, becuase it feels every time you accelerate from a short period of coasting your wrecking the gearbox with that horrid thud as it picks up drive.

Anyone come to a conclusion as to the true solution?

No as far as I know there is no solution. It was one of the reasons I sold my previous RRS. The other reason was the RRS was knackered!!!!! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Gents,

I drove my wife's RRS HSE over the weekend and noticed and low speed shunt in the drive line. Say for example you take your foot off the throttle at a low speed e.g. 20-30 mph, and then reapply the throttle it is not smooth. There is a noticeable shunt just as you reapply the throttle. Is this normal?

Many thanks

Diablo yes mate i do get the same shunt thought it was the antiroll bar bushes ,But it wernt Sad Ill just live with it for a while

On one hand this is very reassuring - Ive had this problem for nearly 2 years now...on the other very upsetting; my dealer also said "yours is one of the better ones" and left it as "wont break anything,.. just adjust your driving style". aaaaghh!

Do we have any kind of consensus as to the solution? - reprogrammed ECU or new gearbox?

Im sure the constant take up of the slack is going to have a knock-on effect and break something else over time?

....anyone recommend the 'best' technical dealer in the UK so I can go and get their opinion?

D.

Booked motor in this wendsday for a gearbox/transmission reset & update hopefully it will sort it. Local dealership said it would possibly fix the shunt for a while but it would more than likley returne as most of the range rovers have this problem Bye the way have not booked it in with dealership ive booked in at AllTrack4x4 they are checking Transmission oil levels & update/ reset £45.00 Hopefully it will feel a bit better...
